Reports on some of the area's former athletes competing at the college level.
Ashlee Rose, Kentucky women’s golf
Ashlee Rose (West Jessamine) completed her senior season at the University of Kentucky with a number of top-10 finishes.
She had the top finish of any Lady Wildcat at the SEC championships, placing 12th. Rose placed fourth at the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational with a 14-over-par 230.
Rose leaves UK as seventh in program history in rounds played — 106. She had a four year average score of 77.88.
Betsie Johnosn, Kentucky women’s golf
Betsie Johnson (West Jessamine) competed in all 10 events with an average score of 76.9 — her best season to date and the 11th best in program history.
The junior had a pair of top-20 finishes and shot a season-best 71 at the LSU Golf Classic. Johnson had a three-round-best 218 at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational.
Christian King, Transy men’s soccer
Christian King (East Jessamine) led the Pioneers'in goals with eight and dished out three assists. As a sophomore, he started 18 of 19 games and had three game-winning goals.
Cameron Miller, Centre men’s soccer
Cameron Miller (East Jessamine) had a productive freshman year at Centre. He played in 21 matches with six starts. He dished out four assists and scored one goal.
Bethany Davis, Carson-Newman softball
Bethany Davis (East Jessamine) was known as a dominant pitcher in high school but switched to the DH role for college. In her freshman season, Davis hit .234 in 141 at bats. She drove in 28 runs and hit six homers. Davis collected 33 hits and 15 walks.
Asbury men’s soccer
With 10 former East and West players on the 2011 squad, Jessamine County was well represented when Asbury played.
