Manna Ministries offers free meals at NUMC

A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers can call 859-885-4481.

Faith United to host concert

Faith United Community Church, located at 3080 Brannon Road, Nicholasville, will host a southern and bluegrass gospel concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 28. Featured artists include His Heart, New Journey The Kentucky Girls, Cross Country, Jim Sheldon and 12-year-old Jonathan Hutcherson. Nicholasville Church of Christ to host VBS

Nicholasville Church of Christ, located at 701 S. Main St., will host its Vacation Bible School each Sunday in July from 9:30-11 a.m. The VBS is open to children ages 1-10. Everyone is invited to stay for worship services after the VBS. This year’s theme is “The Treasures of the Forgotten Island.

FAS announces summer book series

The Francis Asbury Society is pleased to announce their new summer book series. The public is cordially invited to come one evening each month during June, July and August to discuss a book with practical applications to the Christian faith. The author will be present at each discussion. Dr. Matt Friedeman will join us via Skype on Thursday, July 12, to discuss his book, “Discipleship in the Home.” The final study will be Thursday, Aug. 9, with Dr. John Oswalt discussing his study of 1 John, “On Being a Christian.” All book discussions will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Francis Asbury Society Ministry Center, 1580 Lexington Road, Wilmore. Gospel on the Green event set for Friday

The Gospel on the Green concert series will feature Jim Shelton followed by The Samaritans. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Green in Wilmore. Tables and chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own. Local food vendors will be on hand to sell their fare. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the local food pantry or pet food for the county’s new animal shelter.

St. Athanasius offers free bread Sundays

Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.

King’s Way to celebrate anniversary

King’s Way Church of God Mountain Assembly will host its second anniversary service Aug. 5. Mike Padgett will be the guest speaker, and music will be provided by the Brewsters. The church is located at 904 S. Main St. Sunday school starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by the church service at 11:15 a.m. A dinner will follow after the service.
