James Vernon Dean, 69

James Vernon Dean, 69, of Stanford, died Monday, July 23 in Danville. 

Born May 20, 1943, in Shelby County, James was a son of the late Hollis and Clara Dean. He was a Marine Corps veteran serving in the Vietnam War. James worked for Whirlpool Inc., was a member of American Legion Post 346 and loved hunting and fishing.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Dean.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Edith Dean of Stanford; one son, James Vernon Dean II of Perryville; one daughter, Dana Veronica Mize of Salvisa; one brother, Tony Dean of Vinegrove; one sister, Jean Yocum of Stanford; two grandchildren; Sierra Grace Dean and Zaden DiNardo; one adopted grandchild, Sadie Gonzalez; two step-grandchildren, Devon Britton and Destiny Boyd; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (July 26) at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Mike Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
