For years, Jessamine Countians who have craved the taste of Raising Cane’s had to venture into Lexington to get their chicken-finger fix.

That is no longer the case, as Raising Cane’s opened its first Nicholasville location with a ribbon-cutting Aug. 1 at 551 Keene Centre Drive.

Raising Cane’s marketing director Casey Graves said the move to Nicholasville as an easy decision.
“We have three restaurants in the Lexington market, and our Nicholasville Road location was our third location,” she said. “We found that so many people come from this area and surrounding counties and go to that location, so we found a piece of property that would be a great fit for Jessamine County, Nicholasville and the surrounding area.”

The Nicholasville location will employ 43 people, including high-school and Asbury University students, and full-time employees, Graves said.

One of Raising Cane’s five areas of focus is pet welfare, which prompted the owners to give 10 percent of Aug. 1 sales to the Jessamine County Animal Shelter.

“Our mission is to give back to the community because without the community, we wouldn’t be successful,” Graves said.

The other areas of focus include education, business development, promoting active lifestyles and feeding the hungry.

“We always try to find an organization to get involved with and donate a percentage of our sales back to one of those,” Graves said.

Graves said Raising Cane’s is devoted to high-quality chicken fingers.
“We have one love, and we serve premium quality chicken fingers, so they’re cooked to order,” Graves said. “They’re different from other quick-service restaurants — we make them as soon as you walk in the door.”

Raising Cane’s is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. until 11 p.m.

The chain was founded by Todd Graves in 1996 in Baton Rouge, La.

Raising Cane’s has 131 restaurants in 16 states with multiple new restaurants under construction.
