Last FAS summer book series event is Thursday

The final study of the Francis Asbury Society’s summer book series will be Thursday, Aug. 9, with Dr. John Oswalt discussing his study of 1 John, “On Being a Christian.” The book discussion will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Francis Asbury Society Ministry Center, 1580 Lexington Road, Wilmore. Gospel on the Green event set for Friday

The Gospel on the Green concert series will feature Hearts of Faith followed by The Dominion Quartet on Friday. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Green in Wilmore. Tables and chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own. Local food vendors will be on hand to sell their fare. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the local food pantry or pet food for the county’s new animal shelter.

St. Luke to offer class on Catholic faith

Father William C. Bush, pastor at St. Luke Catholic Church, invites all those who are interested in learning about the Catholic faith to a series of classes that begin Monday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. These classes provide information about what the church teaches and offers those who attend the opportunity to ask questions about the faith. Ministerial association to meet Aug. 14

The Jessamine County Ministerial Association (JCMA) will meet Tuesday, Aug. 14, at noon at Wilmore Free Methodist Church, located at 1200 Lexington Road, Wilmore.

Jessamine County pastors, ministers and chaplains are invited to attend this meeting. Reservations are not required but are appreciated.

Nicholasville UMC to host Community Harvest Festival

Nicholasville United Methodist will host its Community Harvest Festival during the Jessamine Jamboree on Sept. 7-9. The church is located at 303 W. Maple St., Nicholasville.

The event schedule is as follows:

• Friday, Sept. 7: Yard and bake sales. Funds will go toward local women and children in need. Free parking and bottled water.

• Saturday, Sept. 8: Yard and bake sales continue. Activities include a dunk tank with key community leaders who will be announced at a later date. All money raised will go toward Jessamine County charities. Also a free bounce house, games and fun for kids of all ages. The Jessamine County Health Department will offer flu shots for $25 (free with Medicare/Medicaid card). The weekly Manna Meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Sunday, Sept. 9: Enjoy worship at NUMC at one of the three services offered. Service times are 8:15 a.m. (traditional), 9:30 a.m. (contemporary) and 11 a.m. (traditional).

Nicholasville UMC offers food ministry

A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.

Saint Athanasius offers bread ministry

Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
