Kevin L. Humphrey, 35, of Frankfort Ford, Wilmore, died Friday, Aug. 3, at the University of Kentucky Hospital. A native of Jessamine County, he was born July 27, 1977, to Cecil “June” and Betty Cooper Humphrey. Kev was a heavy-duty-equipment operator for Lexington Quarry. He loved being outdoors, hunting, riding, working and many other activities. His greatest joy was family and friends whom he loved to tease and make laugh. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Lanie Jane Humphrey; a brother, Wayne Humphrey and wife Debbie; sisters Jean Ann Hammond, Karen Humphrey Detherage and husband Kevin, and Susan Miller and husband Paul; nieces Emily Wheeler and husband Gerald, and Ashley Miller; nephews Jason Humphrey and wife Margaret, Steven J. Hammond, and Shannon Miller; great-nephews Dusty, Tristan, and Jacob; and a special friend, Lane. A remembrance ceremony was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Bales officiating; Kevin was laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers were Jason Humphrey, Steven Hammond, Shannon and Dusty Miller, Joe Hammond, and Jonathan Snowden. Honorary bearers were Ashley and Tristan Miller, Emily Wheeler, Stan Puumala, David Hammond, Gerald Wheeler, Dallas Sheffield, Bill Hardin and Floyd Walker. The family received friends from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home Sunday, Aug. 5.
