Greene graduates from Lafayette
Kaitlyn Greene graduated with honors from Lafayette High School in Lexington on June 1. She played oboe in the Lafayette band wind ensemble and attended Gotta Dance Studio for 16 years. Greene received a full academic scholarship to Western Kentucky University, where she will double-major in biology and chemistry with the intent of entering medical school to be a doctor.
An open house was held at her home for family and friends. She is the daughter of Dr. Kathrine B. Greene and Randy Greene, granddaughter of Jessie Lynn Greene of Lexington, Richard Greene Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Barrett of Orlando, Fla., and great-granddaughter of Jesse A. Beazley of Nicholasville and Nancye Fannin of Versailles.
Jessamine students complete Governor’s Scholars
Eleven students from Jessamine County attended this year’s Governor’s Scholars Program for five weeks in June and July.
A statewide selection committee chose the participants for the nationally recognized program from nominations submitted from each Kentucky school district. Selection criteria included academic records and test scores, teacher recommendations, extracurricular activities and essays. The program is free to those who attend.
