Larry Richard Dyer, 59, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, at his mother's home in Eubank.

Born Nov. 11, 1952, in Lockland, Ohio, Larry was the son of Lavone Mae (Cash) Dyer Whitis and the late Melvin Richard Dyer. Larry began his law enforcement career at the Somerset Police Department, then worked at the Bunnell and the Hialeah Police Department in Florida and most recently worked as an inmate supervisor and deputy sheriff at the St. Johns County Police Department in St. Augustine, Fla. He was the owner and CEO of AAACT Investigations, Inc., and was a paramedic, real estate broker and a former employee of the Commonwealth Journal newspaper in Somerset working in advertising and sales and as a photographer and printer. Larry was a graduate of the St. Johns Community College and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Allen Dyer.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Daurena Simpson Dyer of Jacksonville, Fla., whom he married on Sept. 26, 1986, in Fairchance, Pa.; mother, Lavone (Bill) Whitis of Eubank; daughter, Nysha Lynn Peifer Livingston; sons, William Dana Peifer, Eric Charles (Jennifer) Peifer and Jonathan James (Amber) Daniels; sister, Rhonda (Don) Bloomer; nine grandchildren, Shyla Mary Kay Lewis-Peifer, Kacy Sunrise Peifer, Thomas Orion Livingston, Emyli Allana-Christine Livingston, Zachary Michael Daniels, Wendy Jasmine Daniels, Skylar Lee Daniels, Alexander James Vaughn-Daniels and Ava Jeanne Daniels.

Funeral services were Aug. 11 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Marvin Cromer officiating. Burial was in Fairview Church of Christ Cemetery in Willailla, Ky.

Active pallbearers were Jonathan James Daniels, Eric Charles Peifer and Don, Macy and Elliot Bloomer. Honorary pallbearers were William Whitis and Eddie and Wayne Cash.
