Friday’s game between Lincoln and Casey will be the first meeting between the schools since the 2004 season when the Patriots handed the Rebels a 20-12 loss.

Lincoln overcame an 0-5 start last season to finish 5-7 and make the Class 5A playoffs. Lincoln defeated Letcher County Central in the first playoff game 28-21 but was knocked out in the second round in a 55-27 loss to Harlan County.

Casey, led by Sam Marple, finished 4-7 last season, bowing out in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs in a 42-20 loss to Central.

At the end of each bowl game, a Death Valley Bowl Most Valuable Player will be selected from each team and presented with a trophy.
