East Jessamine and West Jessamine were again on the losing end of their season-opening VisitNich.com Bowl games.
The Jaguars (0-1) opened the festivities against Somerset (1-0) with a 20-6 loss. East was able to keep the Briar Jumpers off the board in the first quarter before giving up a 2-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.
East's offense, which was atrocious in first quarter, final broke through in the final minute of the first half. Quarterback Skylar Rose hit receiver Kameren Sanders on a slant route across the middle for a 12-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion failed.
Somerset set up a quick-strike touchdown to take a 14-6 lead into the half.
The East defense was able to keep Somerset off the board for most of the second half and give the offense a chance, but no points came for the Jaguars. Somerset closed the door with a touchdown in the final minutes.
