Man arrested for possession

 HARRODSBURG — Deputies discovered a man in possession of a controlled substance, believed to be crack cocaine, on Aug. 22, on the U.S. 127 Bypass at Bellows Mill Road. 

Brian K. Powers, 47, of Lexington, was stopped after he failed to signal a turn. According to Chief Deputy Scott Elder, upon conducting a field test on the substance, it was determined to be crack cocaine. It was sent to be tested for further confirmation.

Powers was arrested and charged with first degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to signal properly. Deputies also located cash and seized Powers’ car. 

He was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center and later released on bail. The investigation is ongoing.

Man kicks in door

 HARRODSBURG — An unknown male attempted to enter a residence on West Office Street about 10 p.m. Aug. 25 by kicking in the back door.

According to Sergeant Jay Eldridge, when the man was confronted by the resident, who was carrying a baseball bat, he fled. Police searched the area, but no one was found. 

He was described as wearing a black jacket with a hood and blue jeans. No arrests have been made.

Burglaries reported on Azalea Street

 HARRODSBURG — A string of burglaries plagued residents on Azalea Street from Aug. 19 to Aug. 24. 

Police believe juveniles are involved, and are taking advantage of open or unlocked windows. 

Fingerprints were found at some of the houses and are being analyzed. However, no arrests have been made at this time. 

Residents are encouraged to make sure all windows and doors are locked.

Locks cut at Brightleaf

HARRODSBURG — On Aug. 26, an employee at Brightleaf Golf Course on Danville Road reported someone had cut the locks on two vending machines near the Pro Shop.

An unknown amount of money was taken from the machines and it isn’t known how many individuals were involved in the theft.
