THURSDAY
— The Creative Art League of Jessamine County will host its first meeting Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Jessamine County Public Library. CAL is an interactive group for established and emerging artists directed toward the enrichment of art appreciation in Jessamine County. For more information, call 859-885-5536.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host Memory Banking each Thursday in September at 1:15 p.m.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host “Smiling Memories and Melodies of 1942” on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host movie night at 6 p.m. Sept. 13. This week’s movie is “Amazing Grace.”
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a one-to-one job-search assistance program from 3:30-4:15 p.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a one-to-one e-book assistance program from 4:30-5 p.m.
— The anime and manga club will meet at the Jessamine County Public Library from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host the “Body Recall: Fitness for Life” program each Tuesday and Thursday of September at 11 a.m.

FRIDAY
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host “Jump and Jive” at 10:30 a.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will screen the movie “Rear Window” at 12:30 p.m.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host movie matinees Sept. 14 and Sept. 21 at 1:15 p.m. On Sept. 14, the movie “One-Eyed Jacks” will be shown. On Sept. 21, “No Time for Sergeants” will be shown.

SATURDAY
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a meeting for the “Driveway to 5K”¿and “Driveway to 10K” programs at 10 a.m.
— The Creative Art League of Jessamine County will host a “Paint Out” Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. The public is invited to bring supplies, set up and paint. Children will be encouraged to come and bring sidewalk chalk to create sidewalk art. For more information, call 859-885-5536.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a craft workshop for teens from 1-2:30 p.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a retro gaming event for teens and adults from 3-5 p.m.
— A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.
— The Wilmore Farmers Market is open for the 2012 season. Fresh produce and baked goods will be available each Saturday starting at 8 a.m. The market will be open rain or shine until 1 p.m. or until that week’s goods are sold out. The market is located in the city-hall parking lot.

SUNDAY
— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host “Java and Jive” with free fair-trade organic coffees from 1-4 p.m.
— Wilmore Free Methodist Church will host a book discussion Sept. 16, 23 and 30 at 9:40 a.m. The featured book will be “Bad Religion: How We Became a Nation of Heretics” by Ross Douthat. David Bauer and Rick Boyd of Asbury Theological Seminary are the facilitators and Daryl Diddle  and John Oswalt will lead the discussion. The church is located at 1200 Lexington Road. MONDAY
— The Jessamine County Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and welcomes people 60 years of age and older. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bus service and a hot lunch are available on a donation basis. For more information, call 859-885-9102.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host Mother Goose story time at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a cross-training event for new runners from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a book discussion group at 7 p.m.

TUESDAY
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a one-to-one job-search assistance program from 10-10:45 a.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host preschool story time at 7 p.m.
— The TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weight-loss support group meets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Creekside Senior Apartments, 407 N. 2nd St. in Nicholasville. For cost and more information, contact Donald Wither at 859-312-7455.
— The Jessamine County Senior Center will host the Body Recall fitness program — a 10-week session — on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11 a.m. The center is located at 111 Hoover Drive. For more information, call 859-885-9102.

— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host the Village Vespers on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 1:15 p.m.

WEDNESDAY
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a one-to-one e-book assistance program from 5:30-6 p.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host preschool story time at 10 and 11:30 a.m.
— The Nicholasville Farmers Market is now open every Wednesday until the end of September. Fresh produce and baked goods will be available each Wednesday starting at 9:30 a.m. The market will be located at the Jessamine County Senior Citizens Center, located at 111 Hoover Drive.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a Lego club from 6:30-8 p.m.
— The NAMI family-to-family education program for family and friends of individuals with mental illness will be from 6:30-9 p.m. on Wednesdays from Sept. 5 through Nov. 14. UPCOMING EVENTS
— There will be a country, gospel and bluegrass pickers open-mic session from 6-10 p.m. at the City-County Park Blue Building every second and fourth Wednesday starting Sept. 12. The event will go through December. For more information, call Jim Abney at 859-881-5878.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a program on organizing recipes online with a light lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host the “Third Thursday at Your Library” event for home-school families from 2-3 p.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a family game night Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6-8 p.m.
— Writers and would-be writers are invited to join the Write People on Thursdays from 1:30-3 p.m. Oct. 4 through Nov. 22 at Wesley Village in Wilmore. The class is free and open to all ages, and offers participants the opportunity to be inspired, get fresh ideas and feedback, and hone writing skills. — The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host Asbury University Masterworks Series Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host movie night Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. That week’s movie will be “Madame X.”

— Thomson-Hood Veterans Center, located at 100 Veterans Drive, Wilmore is seeking volunteers to help in many areas of the facility. Areas include visiting with residents, working in the gift shop or craft room, providing general office assistance, assisting residents with activities, reading to residents and escorting residents to appointments. — The Jessamine County Cancer Buddies group would like to extend an invitation to anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer and all the survivors of it. The group hopes to help out with all the needs of those stricken with cancer. JCCB meets at 6:30 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month at Sonny’s Bar-B-Q.
— First Assembly of God, 1701 Wilmore Road, hosts a men’s fellowship breakfast at 9 a.m. every second Saturday of the month.
