STANFORD - A Boyle County paramedic was honored Friday for his role in saving the life of 8-year-old Jalen Smith. Jalen was seriously injured Sept. 16 during a church hayride accident, when his leg was crushed. Boyle County EMS Maj. Aaron Stamper, who is also a board member of Stanford EMS, was honored during the Friday-afternoon dedication of Stanford EMS' new facilities for his role in responding to the scene and stabilizing Smith. Stanford Interim Capt. James Neikirk presented the award after recounting his own experience the night of the hayride accident.

STANFORD - A man is listed in fair condition today following an all-terrain vehicle accident Sunday afternoon. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the scene on Fishing Creek in Lincoln County about 2:45 p.m. Gavin Turpin, 25, was transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington following the accident. No further details are available from the sheriff's department.

STANFORD - An 8-year-old boy who was severely injured during a church hayride is recuperating at home after a nearly three-week stay in the hospital. Jalen Smith of Stanford was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital Sept. 16 after his leg was crushed in an accident during a hayride. Jalen's mother, Jacqueline Smith, said the accident broke both of the main bones in Jalen's leg. Jalen underwent four surgical operations, including a muscle transplant, nerve reconstruction and two skin grafts, Jacqueline said.

The Winchester water company received of merit for 1961 on the basis of not having lost a single man-hour of operation due to an accident. STANFORD - A church hayride accident seriously injured an 8-year-old Stanford boy Sunday, but few details are known and officials have not yet released any information about the incident. Jalen Smith was injured Sunday evening during a church hayride at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. According to a WKYT report, the boy suffered a serious leg injury in the accident and was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital. A spokeswoman said Tuesday that Jalen was listed in serious condition.

STANFORD - A church hayride took a dangerous turn for a young boy Sunday night at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Jalen Smith, 8, was airlifted to the UK Children's Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition today. No information on the accident was available today from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department or Kentucky State Police.
