On Wednesday's front page of The Advocate-Messenger, children were being taught about the pagan Mayan society and their human sacrifices, sun gods and temples. The human sacrifices were to appease their gods. This is being taught while the Gideons International cannot give Bibles to our children. The problem is the school systems and also the governments all are running scared of the ACLU, which is the most evil organization ever formed. The superintendents and principals are all afraid they'll lose their jobs.

Dear Editor, The attacks on the Ten Commandments by the ACLU has kept them in the news for the last 10 years or so. The Ten Commandments - how much do you and I, or the public at large, really know about them? The Judeo Christian Bible tells me they were given by God through Moses to the Jewish people. The American Civil Liberties Union has become so moronic they have invented a new word called oxymoron. Here is an oxymoron regarding the Ten Commandments: The courts demanding that the Ten Commandments be removed from courthouses, while making people swear to tell the truth on a Bible containing the Ten Commandments.

Dear Editor, In response to the letter on Jan. 11 in The Advocate-Messenger titled "ACLU drawing battle lines," I would like readers to re-evaluate the arguments presented by Mr. Anderson. I think that readers may realize this is not the outlandish battle of "good and evil" that he makes it out to be. The American Civil Liberties Union is in no way "drawing battle lines. " Rather - amongst other things - it is taking minorities and other groups of people who are mistreated by ignorance, bigotry, or outright discrimination and defending their rights, the same rights that allow Mr. Anderson to write his letter in the first place.

Dear Editor, Folks keep saying there's a breakdown in American families because of a lack of morals in teaching their children right from wrong. The American Civil Liberties Union caused all of these problems to occur in families. Anyone can look at the ACLU's track record and see that they have the morals of a bunch of Communists who have no place for God in their lives. The taxpayers have a responsibility to pay their taxes and support the school system. The professional school teachers have a responsibility to the taxpayers to give the children a good education.

Dear Editor, There are several million American citizens in the U.S.A. known and identified as Evangelical born again Christians. They love the Lord and keep his Commandments seven days out of every week. Every one of them from an early age has been taught that it is an abomination for men to turn to men for sexual gratification. Neither is it any less a sin for women to marry women for the same reason. The American Civil Liberties Union in America has an ongoing agenda to sue, or take to court, any person or group of people who would speak out or condemn any gay or homosexual person or group seeking the right to marry or to have all the rights of any other citizen.

Dear Editor, Laura Pasley's Jan. 16 letter to the editor in The Advocate-Messenger is full of intellectual dishonesty. Anyone who can read between the lines knows the truth that the ACLU is full of hypocrisy. Their motto is "Keep America Safe And Free," but their actions show an entirely different tone. They try to suppress the teaching of intelligent design in our classrooms, but defend teaching Islam, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Consider also that in the past that they have sued to have the Ten Commandments removed from the public square, but defend organizations like NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association)

In an age where absolutes are regularly disdained by secularists, it is ironic that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is absolutely certain of one thing when it comes to displaying the Ten Commandments in public places: Thou shalt not post. Call it their Eleventh Commandment. Exactly where ACLU prophets received this revelation is unknown, but they probably weren't anywhere near Mount Sinai. Nonetheless, secularists crusading for a religious-free public square are gaining adherents.

Hats off to Oldham County officials for coming up with a novel response to the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU has questioned the constitutionality of a Nativity scene on the courthouse lawn in La Grange and has asked Oldham county officials to clarify their policies on private use of the public square. The ACLU told the officials that if the display was government-sponsored it would have to come down. If it's not, the ACLU said the county would have to let other groups also put on displays on the lawn.

Dear Editor, There is no just basis for the ACLU attack on the 10 Commandments display before the Garrard County Courthouse. The words "separation of church and state" are not in the First Amendment nor anywhere in the Constitution. This claim that they are is a lie, and it is time for it to end. It is also high time to expose the real anti-American aim of the ACLU, summarized best by it's founder Roger Baldwin in 1935, "Communism is the goal. " Glen Reidhaar Lexington

HARRODSBURG - It's been five years since the Ten Commandments and eight other documents were posted just inside the front door of the Mercer County Courthouse and the person who is responsible for their postings said he thinks legal arguments likely are over. Carroll Rousey, the man who donated and posted the 10 frames containing what he and others call nine historic documents and include the Ten Commandments, said Tuesday he believes the legal wrangling over the appropriateness of the display has come to an end. The Boyle County resident started his crusade by placing framed copies of just the Ten Commandments in businesses in both Boyle and Mercer counties after attending a rally to get prayer and the Ten Commandments back in public schools.

LANCASTER - A lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union against Garrard County Fiscal Court over the future posting of the Ten Commandants was ruled 'moot' Thursday by federal court in Lexington. The ruling handed down in U.S. District Court states it cannot prevent the defendants from posting any and all future displays that contain a copy of the Ten Commandments. In the ruling, the court cited the U.S. Supreme Court as saying that a "county's past actions do not forever taint any effort on their part to deal with the subject matter.

Organizations that teach young people virtue ought to be commended. But in the age of political correctness where virtue appears antiquated, such groups are often pushed to society's perimeter. Consider the Boy Scouts of America, the nation's largest values-based organization devoted to shaping young boys into men. Since 1910 the Scouts have promoted the virtues that make for good citizens; and they haven't been bashful acknowledging the Giver of Virtue. Their motto says "On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Dear Editor, Thank you Bobbie Curd for writing the Tammy Carpenter story about Child Protective Services that ran in The Kentucky Advocate on Sunday. I only wish I could find a reporter in New Hampshire who has guts enough to do the same. My grandchildren were taken by CPS because of false allegations. Medical records were hidden and by the time they finally reappeared, the judge didn't care. These records would have proven my daughter's innocence. The judge said if the kids were taken illegally, it didn't matter.
