On Sunday, March 23, we had 108 in morning worship attendance. There were 39 in attendance for our evening service. Angel Food order pick up will be March 29 in the fellowship hall at 9 a.m. We now have someone available at the church the first two Thursdays of every month, from 9 a.m. to noon to take Angel Food orders. If you want to order Angel Food, please do so on these days. There will be a men's meeting at 8 a.m. Saturday morning in the fellowship hall. We are continuing to provide the food ministry on Tuesdays for the widows and shut-ins in the community.

The attendance at the Green River Pentecostal Church on Sunday morning was 278. The annual 4th of July picnic will be held on Saturday, June 30. It will begin at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out for a night of great food and fellowship. There will be fireworks around 9 p.m. Angel Food pickup is Saturday, June 30 from 9-11 a.m. Please bring your receipt and a large box when picking up your order. The Youth Drama Team will have practice at 6 p.m. Wednesday before church at the fellowship hall.

The attendance at the Green River Pentecostal Church on Sunday morning was 260. One lady received the Lord Sunday night. There will be a potluck birthday celebration for Stella Carrier next Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the McKinney gym. She will be 100 years old. On Tuesday night, Dec. 18, there will be a Christmas dinner for the men of the church at the Kentucky Depot. On Friday night, there will be play practice for adults who are in acts one and two. All acts will be practicing on Sunday afternoon.

A local church's outreach ministry has quickly become an outlet for many local families trying to make their food dollars go further in a volatile economy. Last May, Bethel Harvest Church joined with Angel Food Ministries to provide boxes of food to 40 needy families with children at Rosenwald-Dunbar and Warner elementary schools. Ministry coordinator Kathee Norris said after the success of the school ministry, church members decided to expand the program. "We wanted to help people, and we knew Southland Christian Church provided food for the kids during school but when school was out they didn't get any, so our desire was to help make sure the kids got food those three months too," Norris said.

By Becky Goodin Crab Orchard Church of God will take Angel Food orders until Dec. 7. If you would like to place an order or for more information, call the pastor at 365-0545 after 5 p.m. The food will be here on Saturday morning, Dec. 20. We want to say happy birthday this week to Ashley and Kaitlin Owens. The church Christmas dinner will be held Sunday, Dec. 7 following the morning service. The youth are putting together a float for the Crab Orchard Christmas parade set for Saturday Dec. 13. The church Christmas play will be presented on Sunday night, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Dona Terwilliger and her husband, Bill, were visiting family members in Arkansas when they first heard about Angel Food Ministries. "My husband's brother-in-law is a pastor, and he asked us if we knew anything about this program. We thought it was great," Terwilliger said. They thought it was so great that they decided it was something they wanted to see happening in Winchester. "We had never heard of this ministry, and when we got back (to Winchester), we approached our minister about starting the program," Terwilliger said.

The attendance at the Green River Pentecostal Church Sunday morning was 289. We had five people to accept the Lord as their Saviour in the last week. We pray that there will be more to follow. A shower was held last Sunday for Leah and Keith Middleton at the fellowship hall. They had a nice shower and received lots of gifts. Please remember Angel Food pickup is this Saturday. The children ages 5-10 are going to Beech Bend Park on Saturday, Sept. 6. If you are interested in going, please sign up on the sheet in the back of the church.

On Sunday, June 15, we had 48 in attendance for Sunday school, 73 in morning worship, and 41 for the evening service at Stanford Nazarene Church. Angel Food orders for June have been sent in and we are currently receiving orders for July. You can place your orders at the church on the first two Thursdays of every month from 9 a.m. to noon. Beginning its second month as an Angel Food Ministries donor, the Open Door Free Methodist Church distributed food to the community last Saturday morning. "Last month we had 19 regular orders and 11 'special' orders," Elizabeth Bentley, director of the Open Door ministry said. The regular units that are available for the community to order are cost $30. These "regular" boxes contain a variety of foods. "Usually three to four things of meat and a couple of cans of vegetables.
