The couple charged with beating a man and breaking his jaw pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor assault charges. Jeremy Holland, 39, and his 32-year-old wife Amy, were both arrested Feb. 11 for felony second-degree assault after the incident at 41 Buckner St. After the grand jury indicted them for misdemeanor fourth-degree assault ast week, the case returned to Clark District Court where they pleaded guilty Wednesday afternoon. The couple were staying with Frank Rayburn and his father, Rayburn said during a preliminary hearing in district court.

Wednesday's preliminary hearing for Damarintae S. Fischer, who is charged with severely burning another man with boiling water, was postponed after additional charges were filed against Fischer and two more suspects were arrested in the case over the weekend. Fischer, 23, of Danville was initially charged with first-degree assault for allegedly dumping scalding water on Mdre Whitehead on Oct. 10 in an altercation over a stolen gaming console at a Sixth Street residence.  As the investigation continued, additional charges of kidnapping and robbery were placed against Fischer.

A Danville man entered an Alford plea Thursday to second-degree assault related to serious injuries suffered by an infant boy. Anthony Holmberg faces a recommended six years in prison when he is formally sentenced by Boyle Circuit Judge Darren Peckler on Sept. 6. The assault on the 4-month-old boy occurred two years ago, resulting in head trauma and multiple fractures. Holmberg and the boy's mother, co-defendant Melissa Greer, did not take the boy for treatment after the injuries occurred.

The victim in an alleged assault Monday said she was attacked and beaten by a couple with a whiskey bottle for no reason. The couple told police the woman came to their house, pounded on the front door and began hitting herself in the face when they opened the door. In the meantime, Dionne Carmen is recovering from a broken arm and other injuries while 21-year-old Roy Gross and his 25-year-old girlfriend Shannon Johnson sit in the Clark County Detention Center. Wednesday afternoon, Gross and Johnson, both of 26 Seaboard St., pleaded not guilty to second-degree assault charges stemming from the incident in their yard.

A Winchester man is facing burglary and wanton endangerment charges after he allegedly forced his way into an apartment Sunday night and started a fight. Jeffrey H. Thornberry, 45, of 730 McClure Road, was arrested at 200 Hubbard Road after officers responded to a report of a fight. According to the arrest citation, residents told police Thornberry knocked on the door to apartment 104. When it opened, he reportedly kept the residents from closing it and forced his way inside.

A Danville man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly poured scalding water on another man, burning him severely. Damarintae S. Fischer, 23, was charged with first-degree assault and is being held in the Boyle County Detention Center under a $200,000 bond. The victim, MDre J. Whitehead, 20, of Danville, was transferred from Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington for additional treatment of severe burns to his face and upper torso.

A teenager was assaulted this morning at George Rogers Clark High School. A call came across the scanner around 8:30 a.m. saying the victim was unconscious. Winchester Police and Winchester Fire-EMS responded, and someone wearing a neck brace was put into an ambulance. Superintendent Dr. Ed Musgrove said that an altercation took place between two students, but an official report had not been made of the incident as of press time. Musgrove said school officials responded promptly and had the situation under control.

Nicholasville police arrested a child-care sitter and charged her with second-degree assault Monday. Police allege that Audrey M. Rodriguez, 50, of 142 Woodview Drive caused an elbow injury to a 10-month-old girl in her care. “This charge stems from an investigation in which detectives received information from (UKHealthCare's Kentucky Children's Hospital) that a 10-month-old child had been injured and the injuries were consistent with some type of abuse,” officer Kevin Grimes said in a news release.

Danville police responded to a disturbance call on Colonel Drive about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday. A Centre College student told police an ex-boyfriend, Hayden Williams, 19, of Sonora, entered her Lamotte Hall dorm room, according to dispatch. He then allegedly assaulted her, refused to leave or to allow the victim to leave. Williams was initially identified as William T. Hayden by police. Danville Assistant Police Chief Tom Bustle said the victim sustained minor injuries from the incident.

JUNCTION CITY - A man was arrested Thursday morning after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and attempted to drown her. Gregory Rogers, 48, of 211 Allene Drive in Danville, was arrested about 8 a.m. on charges of kidnapping and first-degree attempted assault. According to police, Rogers and his ex-girlfriend, Clela A. Durham, went on a date in an attempt to reconcile their relationship. According to a police report, the two drove to the “Penn Hole” in the Forkland community after dinner where Rogers became enraged over a past incident.

LANCASTER - Police are still investigating the events that led to the hospitalization of a Lancaster woman Saturday after she was assaulted by a man whom police believe to be an ex-boyfriend. Lizabeth Guy apparently remains in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, although no information is being released.  According to Lancaster Police Chief Rodney Kidd, she was on a ventilator; however, she may be taken off of that soon. Until she is able to speak with him, the case will remain an open investigation.  The assault occurred Saturday morning, when Timothy Snowden entered Guy's home at 16 Pleasant View Drive.

LANCASTER - A Paint Lick man being sought by police after he allegedly assaulted a Garrard County woman on Saturday died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Timothy Snowden, 57, apparently shot himself at his mother's home in Irvine after Kentucky State Police and Estill County deputy sheriffs arrived at the home Saturday night on JR Furniture Road. Authorities had gone to the home to arrest Snowden for assault, unlawful imprisonment and violating a protective order. After they arrived at the home, which is owned by Snowden's mother, police began evacuating the property and, while doing so, heard a single gunshot.

A Lexington man is looking at a quarter of a century in prison after agreeing to a plea bargain on kidnapping and assault charges. Trevor Young, 22, appeared in court last Friday and learned his fate. His formal sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m., May 24. According to court records, on Nov. 19, 2011, Young restrained a woman “with the intent to inflict bodily injury upon her and with the intent to terrorize her.”  Court records also state that Young cut the woman with a knife on three separate occasions on that day. Young was sentenced for 20 years for the kidnapping and 5 years for the assault, which are to be served consecutively.

Officials say a security guard assaulted over the weekend while reporting to an alarm likely scared off the perpetrator. About 9:20 p.m. Saturday, Danville police officers responded to an audible alarm at Ephraim McDowell Diagnostic Center on Southtown Drive. According to a police report, officials checked the premises and determined it was secure. About 20 minutes later, the alarm sounded again, the press release stated. Police officers communicated with McDowell personnel and learned that security officer Bobby Potts was checking the premises.

Two people were arrested Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting a woman at her home. About 5 a.m., Danville police responded to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center where Dawnetta L. Jones, 30, of Danville told police she had been assaulted. Jones said James T. Baker, 65, of Danville and Tiffany G. Baker, 30, of Danville had been visiting her son at her residence on Alexander Drive. While visiting, Tiffany Baker “made some comments and was asked to leave the residence,” police said in a press release.

A new trial date has been set in the case of a Lexington man charged with rape, assault and kidnapping to give prosecutors more time to work out a plea offer. The attorney for Trevor Young, 22, said in Jessamine Circuit Court on Friday that she had entered new evidence into discovery that prosecutors want to look into before making an offer. Young was indicted last January after a November incident in which he allegedly restrained a woman, cut her with a knife and raped her, according to court documents.

Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement has identified a Hispanic man arrested Saturday in a domestic assault case. After his arrest, Boyle County Sheriff's Department placed the man who called himself Pedro Floras in immigration detainment because he could not be identified. On Tuesday, ICE interviewed the man and identified him as Augusta Floras Mital, an illegal immigrant who has been deported to Mexico five times. Sheriff Marty Elliott said ICE is keeping Floras Mital detained while they conduct a federal investigation.

PERRYVILLE - A Hispanic man believed to be wanted in other states is being detained at the Boyle County Detention Center by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after he was arrested in a domestic assault case. On Saturday, Boyle County Sheriff's Department responded about 1:47 p.m. to a third-party call of domestic violence at a residence at 403 W. Second St. in Perryville. The caller said a man who goes by the name Pedro Floras was “planning to kill everyone in the house,” said Sheriff Marty Elliott.
