A late start and rising heat were no match for the enthusiasm of parents, grandparents, friends and fans who gathered to support the entrants in this year's baby contest at the Boyle¿County Fair. The babies were all pretty good sports about it, too. Scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning at the main pavilion, the sound system was not ready until the top of the hour and contestants had been gathering since before 9 a.m. Christeen Preston, who was in charge of this and many other events, kept her cool even as babies - and a few parents - seemed to be ready for a nap by the time the trophies were awarded nearly two hours after the first wee one cooed for the crowd.

The highlight of any summer is the annual fair and the warm nostalgia it brings. This year will be no different, though things may look a little different. “We've changed the appearance and the layout of the fairgrounds,” Jessamine County Fair president James Bruner said. “Some new colors for the livestock building, a few things rearranged, and we've moved where the demolition derby will be.” Though things on the grounds may be slightly altered, this year the Jessamine County 2012 Fair will still be held at the same location down Longview Drive on Park Drive in Nicholasville.
