The Indian Old Fields Homemakers Club met Nov. 24 and made plans for their annual Christmas bake sale to be held Saturday night prior to and during the Christmas parade. Beverages will include hot chocolate and coffee in addition to homemade cookies, candies, breads and cakes. Carolyn Tuttle, vice president, conducted the meeting. The inspirational reading was given by Hilda Standafer and three new members, Geatta Ballard, Janie Dearing and Laurie Hubble, were welcomed into the club.

The monthly executive and general meetings of the Clark Regional Medical Center Auxiliary were Monday, Nov.12 at the medical center. Carolyn Wiggins submitted the September and October secretary's reports, and Martha Shearer distributed the financial report for October. Audrey King reported 1,264.5 hours were worked by 61 volunteers in October and 12,520 year-to-date hours worked. Virginia Bishop from membership services reported that Geraldine Roe is now an active member and assigned to the gift shop.

In total, the company raised $25,008.31 after two weeks of fundraising that also included a bake sale, an ice cream day and raffles. The company had 50 percent employee participation in the drive.

The Boonesboro Lioness Club's 24th annual auction and bake sale to benefit Hospice East will be Friday, April 12, at First Church of God, 2500 Colby Road. The bake sale will begin at 4 p.m. with the auction to follow at 6 p.m. Woodrow Wilson will be the auctioneer. Merchandise and gift certificates for various services have been donated by businesses and individuals in Clark, Powell and surrounding counties. There also will be a silent auction featuring select items. Auction items include homemade basket, quilts, jewelry, wreaths, lamps, specialty baskets of various items, books and clothes.

April 18, 1988 The Fairfield Homemakers Club met April 13 at the Golden Corral Family Steak House with June Tapp conducting the meeting. The devotional, “The Power of Prayer,” was given by Mary Helen Cole. Mrs. Cole led the role call with members answering by naming their favorite flower. Plans for a fundraising event to replace the roof of the clubhouse were discussed by members of the First Settlers Homemakers Club at their April meeting in the Community Room at College Park.

First UMC kicks off Face of Love Monday Face of Love, a combination of vacation Bible school, local mission projects and community outreach, begins Monday at College Park. VBS¿for young children will begin each morning at 9 a.m. at the library at College Park, followed by lunch from the summer feeding program. In the afternoon, the youth will complete mission projects throughout the community. Beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m., the church will offer a free dinner for the community followed by family-friendly events.

Support group plans balloon release Compassionate Friends support group will have its annual balloon release 7 p.m. Monday at Heritage Hospice. Participants will write a message to their lost children or grandchildren in heaven and release balloons with messages inside. The group meets monthly and welcomes new members. Heritage Hospice is at 120 Enterprise Drive. American Legion having yard sale American Legion Boyle Post 46 - beginning at 7 a.m. today and Saturday, the post will have a yard sale at the legion hall.
