Army Pfc. James M. Herring has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. During the eight weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

West Point, N.Y. — Cadet Louis Andrew Beto, son of Dr. and Mrs. Louis Beto of Danville completed Cadet Basic Training at the U.S. Military Academy. Beto entered West Point on June 28 and has successfully completed six weeks of basic training. Also referred to as “Beast Barracks” Cadet training is one of the most challenging events a cadet will encounter over the course of their four years at the academy. The initial military training program provides cadets with basic skills to instill discipline, pride, cohesion, confidence and a high sense of duty to prepare them for entry into the Corps of Cadets.
