Life can get tough for a beagle with no home and puppies on the way. Especially when she gets picked up by the canine police and ends up in the doggy slammer. But sometimes a beagle's long, silky brown ears and luminous, pleading eyes can turn things around. Which is exactly what happened with Copper. Dan Turcea, director of the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society, couldn't stand to see the young, affectionate dog suffer through pregnancy and delivery amid the yelping and yapping in a kennel filled with puppies and dogs.
