Maria Montgomery's supporters in her quest to win the title of Miss USA have a chance to vote on pictures of Montgomery in which she looks like a 1940s glamour girl. To view them and vote, go to www.missusa.com , then click on photos. Anyone voting has to create an account, but it is a simple process. It wasn't a surprise that George Rogers Clark won the 40th District Tournament last week at Bourbon County. The Cardinals had solid individual performances, including senior Robert Hatton, who scored his 1,000th career point in a win over Paris in the opening round. The most interesting statistic is that fact that Hatton scored 22 points in each of the two games. Hatton became the second Clark player to eclipse the 1,000-point mark this season. Sophomore Robbie Stenzel, who has been playing since the eighth-grade, reached the milestone earlier this month.

Interested in acquiring skills in the use of video? If so, you will want to attend the Kentucky Press Association's Citizen Journalist Workshop on Thursday, Nov. 13. The event is open to the public and to Kentucky newspaper staff members. The Citizen Journalist Workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Paroquet Springs Conference Centre at Shepherdsville, approximately 15 miles south of downtown Louisville.

Rich Brooks deserves credit for calling out a fraction of fans for voicing their displeasure on the quarterback rotation last Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium. After Randall Cobb had directed Kentucky to three touchdowns, including two on his own in a 38-3 domination over Norfolk State, Brooks reinserted starting quarterback Mike Hartline back into the lineup to start the second half. That's when a few fans decided to let their feelings be known to Brooks on the sideline.

In the sea of media coverage for the Beijing Olympic Games later this summer, it may be hard to find an angle that won't be covered. From NBC's coverage to print media, it will be covered like no other recent event. But what about a local, behind-the-scenes angle? And what if you live in central Kentucky? The Winchester Sun will host on its Web site, winchestersun.com, a blog with a different viewpoint of the Beijing Olympics. The blog originates from a sister newspaper of the Sun, The Jessamine Journal, in Nicholasville, and will also be on the sites of two other newspapers in the Advocate Communications Inc. group, the Advocate-Messenger in Danville and The Interior Journal in Stanford.
