The East Jessamine High School baseball boosters will man a booth at the Jessamine Jamboree on Main Street. The booth will feature bean soup and cornbread, country ham and biscuit, hot dogs with chili, fried bologna and cheese sandwich, grilled brats with onions and peppers, chips, ballpark brownies, cookies, assorted muffins, drinks, bottle water, coffee and hot chocolate. The booth will be available Saturday and Sunday.

Fox Hutt, a fiber artist who markets as Lacetree Weavers, received "Best Overall Booth Design" at the Kentucky Crafted: The Market held last week. The award is based on presentation and merchandising. Hutt of Perryville said she has been studying Bruce Baker, an authority on booth design. In addition, her husband, Steve, built many of the structural pieces for the booth. Sherry Masters from Grovewood Gallery, who judged the booths told Hutt the booth won because it attracted customers and was convenient for them.

The Boyle County Genealogical Association meeting for tonight has been canceled. The association members will host a booth at the Boyle County Fair tonight through Saturday this week to let people know more about the genealogical association. Visitors at the booth may register for two free books - "Early Days in Danville, and "Reminiscences of the Fork" - to be given away each night.

Although Stacey Booth and Eden Bennett just started their senior years at George Rogers Clark High School, both know what they want as graduation gifts. As recent recipients of the Girl Scout Gold Award, Booth and Bennett said they hope to receive a lifetime membership to the Girl Scouts of America. “We have such deep connections with the Girl Scouts, and I¿love it,” Bennett said. The pair have been participating in Scouts together since they were in first grade, along with four other close friends and members of Troop 660, who also are working on Gold Award projects.

The Advocate-Messenger will videotape messages from friends and family to soldiers serving overseas from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Constitution Square. Videos for the soldiers will be posted online at www.amnews.com. The newspaper's booth will be set up on the corner of Main and Second streets. The booth will be part of Danville's Armed Forces Day celebration for service men and women. There will be military ceremonies, live entertainment and interactive displays.

The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society animal shelter will close at 1 p.m. Saturday while Constitution Square Festival is in progress. Pet lovers are encouraged to visit the DBCHS booth at the festival, where pet gift baskets and T-shirts will be for sale. Pens of puppies also will be part of the DBCHS booth both Saturday and Sunday. LANCASTER - Brenda Powers said at the Partners for Progress dunking booth at the Garrard County Fair, all proceeds will go to buying playground equipment for the Jaycees Park, including a rock climbing wall that children have picked out. "And anyone who wants to dunk a judge-executive candidate can come out tonight at 7:30 p.m. to try and dunk John Wilson!" Powers said. Wilson, a Republican judge-executive candidate, has volunteered to sit in the booth in addition to sheriff's deputies, a Kentucky State Police trooper and the Rev. Jerry Browning.

LANCASTER - A woman who was jailed Monday for wearing shorts to court says she has been picked on by the judge. Garrard District Judge Janet Booth told Kirstie Arnold, 28, of Lancaster that she had been warned twice before about wearing shorts to court. After describing Arnold's attire as complete disregard for court order, Booth sentenced her to three days of temporary detention. "Kind of looks like she's picking on me, and she hadn't warned me twice before about shorts at all," Arnold said during a phone interview today from the Boyle County Detention Center.

Musical performers and speakers are part of the Inter-County Energy annual meeting that is set for 5 p.m. Friday at Boyle County High School. For entertainment, Johnny Counterfit's show will feature voice and singing impressions of some of the most famous singers and actors of yesterday and today, along with voices of politicians past and present, all packaged in a "clean comedy and music style" with a live band. Harmless T. Jester, who rides around on a giant parrot named Gonzo, also will perform.

Edgar “Doc” Paul Booth D.C., 87, of Daphne, Ala., passed away Friday, Sept. 7, in Biloxi, Miss. Born May 23, 1925, in Elizabeth, Pa., Doc was a son of the late Samuel and Zella Booth. Serving others was more than a lifestyle, it was his calling. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, was a past commander of the American Legion in Stanford, a past commander of the VFW in Pascagoula, Miss., a past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Stanford, and served many patients as a chiropractor.

The Kentucky State Fair is almost here, and the Danville-Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau seeks volunteers to assist at the Boyle County booth in the Pride of the Counties exhibit area. Those who represent the county will be awarded a free pass to the entire fair for the day of their shift. Saturday, thankfully, was warm and sunny! The vendors’ tables were full of fresh goodies and the market was full of people. Thanks to everyone for coming out to see us! Our first cookbook, “FARM FRESH RECIPES from the Boyle County Farmers’ Market,” is now available. We have compiled a collection of our favorite recipes using fresh fruits, vegetables and meats offered at our market throughout the season. Visitors to Ridgefield Shopping Center on the Danville bypass may have noticed a small, flag-festooned booth Tuesday and Wednesday as the Tea Party movement merged with merchandising. John Lang of Nicholasville, a Tea Party supporter who put up the booth in the old Kmart parking lot, sells T-shirts and bumper stickers, many of them emblazoned with his own slogans, and small copies of the country’s founding documents. Lang, who has a similar booth in the Peddler’s Mall in Danville, said he is a self-employed house framer who lost substantial business when the real estate market collapsed.

Applications for artists to register for the 2009 Constitution Square Arts Festival will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday or by mail if postmarked by Saturday. The Rowdy Golden Girls Homemakers met on Friday, Aug. 7, at the County Extension Office for their first meeting of the new calendar year 2009-2010.
