Today we went to Firefighter's Park for Brandon's basketball try-outs. I sure am nervous for him. I'm nervous because he seems to think he can really play basketball. Can he? Don't ask me?. What do I know? I do know this - he does a mighty fine job of dribbling the ball through his legs while walking (I find that quite interesting). He also does a fine job of bouncing the ball up and down our driveway, but can he play? I don't know. We shall see soon enough. The Day After Tryouts Yesterday the people at the park looked impressed while watching Brandon.

This is one book Kentucky fans certainly are going to want to read. Tonya Knight, who has written two novels, is working on a book, “Diary of a Basketball Mom,” that she started keeping notes for when her son Brandon Knight was only 8 years old and an unknown player in Florida. Since then he's risen to a Gatorade Player of the Year in Florida, a prep All-American, a Kentucky signee, a Final Four participant and a top-10 draft pick of the Detroit Pistons. “I've been keeping a journal since he was 8 and when I let people read it, a lot of them say, 'Why not make a book out of it?

The NBA¿Draft is becoming a tradition in Kentucky. A¿year ago, Big Blue Nation watched as five players — four of them freshmen — were drafted in first round of the league’s annual event. One of those former Kentucky players — John¿Wall, was the top pick, a first-ever feat for a program that rightfully prides itself as the “Greatest Tradition in College Basketball.” Usually the summer months aren’t heaped with an abundance of news on current and former players, but the draft provides a relief for the summertime blues when it comes to discussing Kentucky basketball.

Analyst Matt Kamalsky of Draftexpress.net knows a lot could still change between now and Thursday night’s NBA draft. Yet he’s fairly confident Kentucky fans are going to see Brandon Knight and Enes Kanter going early in the draft. “As of today, Knight No. 3 to Utah, a good spot for him, and Kanter 6 to Washington. Kanter is an absolute no brainer for both parties, an incredible fit,” Kamalsky said. Knight left UK after his freshman year when his point guard play led UK to the Final Four.

Here are the thoughts ESPN analysts Fran Fraschilla, Chad Ford and Jay Bilas shared about Enes Kanter and Brandon Knight going into Thursday's draft during an ESPN teleconference. On Knight Bilas: “You'd like to have a kid, a prospect that works out for everybody that says, ‘Hey, you know, I'll take on anybody, anyplace, any time.’ That's unrealistic given the amount of teams that guys have to work out for. They want to be sharp and make sure they're prepared in each workout.

He’s been overshadowed by three straight No. 1 recruiting classes, five one-and-done players, a coaching change and Kentucky’s national title quests the last two seasons. However, UK senior Darius Miller has grown into a talented player himself, as shown by his invitation to the 2011 USA Basketball Men’s World University Games Team training camp July 29-Aug. 7 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The tryout will determine which 12 players will represent the United States at the World University Games Aug. 13-23 in Shenzhen, China.

Tonya Knight says it has been “hectic” for her son, former Kentucky point guard Brandon Knight, as he continues to work out and talk to NBA teams before finding out later this month where he will be headed following the NBA draft. “Brandon is just traveling and working out for different teams. He’s actually enjoying it. Not much stresses him out. He leaves all that to his mother,” Tonya Knight said. “He doesn’t worry at all. He doesn’t mention any worries or concerns.
