LEXINGTON - Team togetherness might be as important for Kentucky right now as any lesson coach John Calipari teaches on the court during the semester break, when he can work his team as many hours as he wants with no NCAA limitations. In fact, Calipari said Monday that his team now has a “breakfast club” even though he would not exactly identify who was in that club quite yet. “A couple of these guys are starting a 'breakfast club' where they get up and lift in the morning, four or five of them and they have breakfast together.

Dear Editor. Each Nov. 11, our nation pays homage to those who have dedicated their lives to the service of their country. Veterans Day is one of our nation's most recognized holidays and, because of its meaning, perhaps the most important. On Oct. 26, the 110th Congress passed Senate Resolution: 357. The resolution designates the week between Nov. 11 and Nov. 17 "National Veterans Awareness Week. " The resolution calls for greater community recognition of veterans, and more educationally enlightening activities for students in primary and secondary education.

Technically speaking, Dot and Brad Dunn's Lakeview Point Bed & Breakfast is a B & B but it could just as well be called an "R & R" - for rest and relaxation. Perched on a bluff along Herrington Lake in Mercer County, Lakeview Point offers a lot of resort-style amenities not usually found in most bed and breakfasts. First, there's an expansive view of the lake and the farmland on the other side. "You not only have the lake view but you can get a farm view, too," Dot Dunn said.

STANFORD - For many people, a bowl of Lucky Charms sounds pretty good on a Saturday morning. But for a runner, one who's in the middle of a race, maybe not. Still, there were a couple who gave it a try Saturday in the spirit of the St. Patrick's Day theme at the Leprechaun Leap 5K, and their mid-race munching produced decidedly mixed results. The “Lucky Charms Challenge” was offered to runners in the race, but it was a challenge few runners were up for. But Evelyn Jane Barker, a Lancaster runner who enjoys a good theme as much as she enjoys a good race, was willing to give it a try. Barker came to the race adorned in St. Patrick's Day-themed garb, from a green-and-white felt top hat to her own strings of lucky charms, and she couldn't resist stopping at the cereal station in the Oakwood subdivision, near the midpoint of the 3.1-mile course.
