A Rockcastle County man died early today after his vehicle was hit by a tractor-trailer Wednesday on the Danville bypass. According to the Fayette County Coroner's Office, Carlos Adams, 74, of Brodhead was attempting to turn left onto Daniel Drive from South Danville Bypass about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday when he pulled into the path of the truck traveling west on the bypass. Adams' vehicle was struck on the passenger side door. Adams was later transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington where he was pronounced dead about 4:15 a.m. today.

CRAB ORCHARD - The Lincoln County sheriff says a man arrested on receiving stolen property charges about 8 a.m. today may be connected with several thefts in the area. Sheriff Shelby Lakes said Matthew Holden, 36, of Brodhead, was arrested walking on U.S. 150 near the Rockcastle County line after residents in the area called to report a suspicious man looking inside their vehicles in front of their homes. Lakes said a Rockcastle County deputy was questioning Holden and will more than likely charge him with theft.

Monday afternoon a propane explosion and subsequent fire destroyed a mobile home behind a residence at 125 Copper Creek Road near Brodhead. A family member at the scene said that he suspected that a stove in the trailer might have sparked the explosion that destroyed the trailer. Firefighters and rescue personnel from as far away as Stanford responded to a report of a propane explosion near the Rockcastle County line. A young man, whom family members requested not be identified, was in the trailer when it exploded.

Cole Lawrence Martin, the son of Dioni Howard and Jesse Martin of Brodhead, was born Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Fort Logan Hospital at 1:10 p.m. He weighed 8 pounds 3.8 ounces and measured 21 inches at birth. Maternal grandparents are Trena and Elmer Robbins of Brodhead and Ron and Amy Howard of Eaton, Ohio. Paternal grandparents are Randy and Jill Martin of Mt. Vernon. Great grandparents are Roy and Flora Teague of Greenville, Ohio and Bonnie and David Martin of Brodhead. He joins a sister, Meghan Sumner, age 3.

Ezekial Jeremiah Anderson, the son of Billie and Shaun Anderson of Brodhead, was born Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Fort Logan Hospital at 7:47 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and measured 19 1/2 inches at birth. Maternal grandparents are Tammy Martin and Gary Blanton of Brodhead and the late William Earl Martin, Jr., of Crab Orchard. Paternal grandparents are Deborah Anderson of Stanford and Doug Anderson of Crab Orchard. Great grandparents are Margaret Bryant of Brodhead and William Denney of Stanford.

Elliott Montgomery was named Miss Junior Pre-Teen Garrard County Fair. First runner-up was Payton Conley and Charity Browning was second runner-up. Results of the Clementsville Motorsports Truck Pull at the Garrard County Fair Monday night: 6,400 pound bone stock: Lauren Hatter of Liberty, first place; Frankie Woodall of Brodhead, second place; Joe Wilson of Harrodsburg, third place.

Scarlett Shade Jones, 25, of Brodhead, died Sunday, Dec. 28. A native of Richmond, she was born Sept. 16, 1983, to Michael (Gail) Jones of Mt. Vernon and Mary Jane Price Jones of Brodhead. She was a college student at Eastern Kentucky University. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Gary Earl Shepherd; maternal grandfather, Stanley Price; and paternal grandfather, Hewitt Jones. Other survivors include two brothers, Jacob Jones of Brodhead and Jeremy Shawn Jones and his companion, Natalie Albright; one step brother, Joey Bullock of Mt. Vernon; one stepsister, Judy Mason of Pine Hill; maternal grandmother, Marion Price of Somerset; paternal grandmother, Mary Ida Jones of Mt. Vernon; and several aunts and uncles.

Tonia Leah Martin, 42, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, March 18 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born Sept. 6, 1970, Tonia was a daughter of William Henry Countryman and the late Rebecca Susan Sowder Countryman. Other survivors include her husband, Michael Martin; daughters, Kayla Leah and Shayla Susan Martin; brothers, David Wayne (Leslie) and Kelly Wade Countryman; Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight (March 21) at Marvin E. Timothy Wayne Coffee, 50, of Crab Orchard, died Friday, Feb. 15, at the University of Kentucky Hospital. Born Sept. 23, 1962, in Piqua, Ohio, Timothy was a son of the late Zora and Sadie Lois Ball Coffee. He was the widower of Louanne Anastasia Coffee, who preceded him in death on April 23, 2011.  Survivors include, four children, Amber Ferguson, Cheyenne Nicole Coffee, Sierra Brooke Coffee and Shane William Coffee; one sister,  Lori Hendrickson; and two grandchildren. Tim Sowder, 51, of Eubank,  passed away Monday, Nov. 12, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. Born Sept. 8, 1961, in Kankakee, Ill., Tim was a son of the late E. J. and Gladys June (Bishop) Sowder. He was a construction worker, a member of the Baptist faith  and will be remembered for his love of collecting model tractors, flea marketing and trading knives. Denver G. Caudill, 68, of Brodhead, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.   Born Oct. 14, 1944, in Harlan County, Denver was a son of the late Leonard and Virgie Eldridge Caudill. He worked  for Karst and Robbins Coal Company as a miner and was a coal truck driver before retiring in 1989. Denver was a member of the Upper Clover Fort Missionary Baptist Church, the Dix River Coon Club and the American Black and Tan Coon Hound Association.

Lisa Ann Todd Reynolds, 38, passed away with infant daughter, Elizabeth LeeAnn, on Friday, June 5 at her home in Rockcastle County. She was born Oct. 25, 1970, in Louisville, to Mary Annette Floyd Todd and the late Jackie Ray Todd. She was a member of the Briary Union Church and an employee of the Eubank Post Office. Other survivors include her husband, Gary Reynolds. Funeral services were June 8 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel in Brodhead with Bro. Zandall Hasty officiating.
