Rickey and Terry Brackett of Lancaster and Dallas and Shelia Severance of Brodhead announce the forthcoming marriage of their children, Delora Beth to Chad Phillip. The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Lincoln County High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Kentucky. She is employed by the Mercer County School System. The groom-elect is a 1996 graduate of Rockcastle County High School and a 1998 graduate of Somerset Technical College. He is employed by Square D of Lexington.

Parlor Grove to hold VBS The Parlor Grove Baptist Church will be having a Vacation Bible School Kickoff on Saturday, June 17 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. There will be registration, inflatables and a supper. The church is located 2 miles off of US Hwy. 27 on KYâ??Hwy 1781. For more information, call 606-379-6307. Vacation Bible School at Stanford Baptist Stanford Baptist Church will be having Vacation Bible School Sunday-Thursday, June 25-30 from 6:30-8:45. There will be Family Night June 30 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The theme is "Artic Edge-Where Courage Meets Adventure".

Elijah Logan Martin, the son of Amber Martin of Crab Orchard, was born Wednesday, June 7 at the Fort Logan Hospital at 1:37 a.m. He weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces and measured 21 1/2 inches at birth. Maternal grandparents are Anthony Wayne Martin and Norma Jean Martin of Crab Orchard. Great grandparents are Ruthann and Elmer Martin of Stanford and the late Dempesy and Lily Bell Brummett of Brodhead. Uncles are Tony and Josh Martin of Crab Orchard and Roman Lee Brummett of Brodhead.

Mary Helen Johnson Naylor Cummins, 75, of Somerset, died Tuesday, May 16 at her home. She was born July 12, 1930 to the late Leo "Bunk" Naylor and Ollie Naylor. Survivors include one son, Ronnie (June) Leber of Lexington; four sisters, Loretta (Elby) Hopkins, Rosella Gaither, and Linda (Bill) Dyehouse all of Crab Orchard and Carolyn (Eddie) Hamm of Brodhead; and two brothers, Marion (Paulette) Naylor of Brodhead and Warren Naylor of Georgia. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Kennedy Cheyenne Ashley, the daughter of Angela Cromer of Brodhead and Willie Ashley of Crab Orchard, was born Saturday, April 1 at the Fort Logan Hospital at 8:18 a.m. She weighed 6 pounds .3 ounces and measured 17 inches at birth. Maternal grandparents are Betty Taylor of Crab Orchard and Kurlin Kennedy of Petros, TN. Paternal grandparents are Inez Ashley of Crab Orchard. She joins a brother, Willie Joe Ashley, Jr., age 2 and a sister, Destiny Inez Ashley, age 3.

Elsie Hubbard Helton, 83, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, March 27 at the Rockcastle Health and Rehab in Brodhead. A native of Rockcastle Co., she was born June 5, 1922 to the late Abraham and Katherine Miles Hubbard. She was a member of the Crab Orchard Church of God. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Roy, Harmon, Newt, Albert, and Dwight Hubbard; and granddaughters, Janet Hendrickson Clark and Barbara Hendrickson. Survivors include two daughters, Anna Francis Hendrickson of Stanford and Linda (Jimmy)

Cora Dollin Simpson, 94, of Preachersville, died Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Christian Care Center. A native of Garrard Co., she was born Aug. 21, 1911 to the late William Thomas Doolin and Nellie Ray Doolin. She was a member of Gilberts Creek Baptist Church and the widow of Ottie Simpson. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Flora Myers (twin sister), and Allie Lewis; and a brother, Earl Doolin. Survivors include one daughter, Nellie Louise Hawley of Stanford; four grandchildren, Richard Allen Hawley of Stanford, David Keith Hawley of Mississippi, Billie Jean Lunsford of Brodhead and Terry Lee Hawley of Richmond; 12 great grandchildren; and eight step great grandchildren.
