Danville police thwarted a burglary in progress Thursday afternoon. About 4:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary in progress at 141 Cheryl Lane. Dispatchers advised the suspects were Dustin Privett, 21, and Jessica Clement, 19, both of Danville. When officer Chris Matano arrived, he saw Clement carrying items from the rear of the residence to a neighboring residence at 143 Cheryl Lane. Privett was next seen running from a tree line behind the houses to a vehicle at the 143 Cheryl Lane residence.

The Nicholasville Police Department is investigating an attempted burglary that occurred Friday morning. According to the NPD, a woman claimed a man attempted to force his way into her home on McPeak Place around 8:30 a.m. "She said the guy had some official papers for her, and when she started to open the door he tried to force it open," Officer Scott Harvey said. "She was able to slam the door in his face, and he ran off. " The man is described as white and tall, and he was wearing a red baseball cap and jeans at the time of the incident.

STANFORD - A man wanted in connection with an attempted burglary in December in Lincoln County was arrested Monday in Fayette County after a tipster told the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department he would be at a car lot. Wayne Slaven, 34, of Crab Orchard, was wanted in Lincoln County for second-degree burglary after allegedly breaking into the Herman Cornett home on Dec. 16. Cornett owns Cornett's Grocery. Slaven was reportedly seen with two other suspects entering the driveway of the house by Cornett, who fought with the would-be burglars and shot one man in the leg. Slaven's wife, Sherry Slaven, was wanted for fourth-degree assault in an unrelated case and was also arrested.

STANFORD - The Danville woman who had been accused of organizing a plot to kill the octogenarian mother of her former lover has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge that carries a potential eight-year sentence. Jessica Callahan, 27, was indicted for attempted murder in August for conspiring with three Ohio women to murder Hustonville resident Minnie Goode. On Friday, Callahan took a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second-degree burglary, which is a Class C felony.

STANFORD - A Danville woman who was indicted for conspiring to kill the octogenarian mother of her former lover was sentenced to eight years in prison Friday for a burglary charge. Jessica Callahan, 28, pleaded guilty Dec. 14 to one count of second-degree complicity to burglary. At Callahan's formal sentencing Friday, her lawyer, Justin Genco, told Circuit Judge David A. Tapp he would not be seeking probation immediately because Callahan has at least one other felony charge pending against her in Boyle County.

Erica Bowman, 20, of Danville, was charged with burglary after she allegedly entered an apartment building at 1020 E. Main St., police said. The Meadow Run apartment was vacant and nothing was taken in the burglary at 10:31 a.m. March 23, according to a report by Officer Clark Logan.

Danville police are investigating a burglary that occurred during the weekend at Bate Middle School. Someone apparently broke in the school through a rear door, said assistant Chief Tony Gray. A small amount of property valued less than $300 was taken from the band room. Police were called to the school at 5:45 p.m. Sunday to check the burglary. Officer Jason Warinner is continuing the investigation.

HARRODSBURG - Several pieces of jewelry were taken Monday in a burglary at a South Magnolia Street residence, police said. Joyce Murray of 131 S. Magnolia St. told police that someone took a wide-width wedding band, two pairs of gold earrings, one with pearl and the other with gold leaves and a gold bracelet. Patrolman Granville Peyton said the intruder kicked in the side door at the residence to gain entrance. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the Harrodsburg Police Department.
