HEALTH BOARD ADOPTS SMOKING BAN The Clark County Board of Health adopted a county-wide regulation smoking ban in public places. The ban still has to go through second and third readings before it is official. Halloween carnival is today Junction City is hosting a Halloween carnival 6-8 p.m. today at City Hall, to correspond with the city's trick or treat times. There will be food, games and candy. Blood drive set The Kentucky Blood Center will have a blood drive 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday on the KBC Bloodmobile at Walmart in Danville, 100 Walton Ave. Church celebrates anniversary The Rev. Larry D.Weathers Sr., choir and congretation of Vision Church of Holiness Inc., will be the guests for Pastor Sanford Pinkston's sixth year pastoral/church anniversary 7:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Apostolic Church, 340 Legion Drive, Lexington.

The Casey County Fair is scheduled today through Saturday at the Central Kentucky Ag/Expo Center on U.S. 127 South of Liberty. Admission is $7. Tonight's schedule is as follows: 4 p.m., Gate opens. 5 p.m., Carnival opens. 6:30 p.m., Haybale throwing contest. 7 p.m., Rodeo, Little Miss and Mister Casey County Fair pageant, and Miss Casey County Fair pageant.

HARRODSBURG - The Mercer County Fair continues through Monday at the fairgrounds on Linden Avenue. Tonight's schedule includes a baby show at 5:30, sheep show at 6:30, horse show at 7, and diesel truck and tractor pull at 7:30. Gate admission is $5; children 6 and under get in free. Carnival ride bracelets are $8. Events Saturday and Sunday are free. Motorsport events today through Saturday cost an additional $3.

Students wanted a big musical act to come to campus and Centre's Student Activities Council delivered. Ben Folds, singer and pianist, will be performing May 7 at Centre's Norton Center for the Arts. Famous for songs such as "Brick," "The Battle of Who Could Care Less" and "Fair," Folds will visit the College as part of his solo tour. "I've never found anyone that I like more than Ben Folds," says sophomore J.P. Isele from Hopkinsville. "Even though some of today's more mainstream bands feature a piano, Ben Folds has mastered the art. " Folds came to prominence in 1993 with the group Ben Folds Five.
