Jennifer Berryman King, 62, wife of Paul King, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Mrs. King was born in Clark County on Jan. 22, 1951, to the late JR Berryman and Janice Thacker Justice. Mrs. King was a loving mother, homemaker, bookkeeper and co-owner of Paul and Sons Salvage. Survivors include two sons, Vince (Monica) King of Lexington, Chris (Sherri) King of Clark County; three grandsons, Clay, Colby and Kasey King; one granddaughter, Courtney King; one half sister, Suzie McDonald; mother-in-law, Minnie Hatton King; and a special niece, Leslie Kay King.

March 1, 1988 Rose Swope, extension agent for 4-H, noted that 56 percent of the county's potential 4-H members are enrolled in 61 clubs, reaching 1,320 members. This highlighted the Monday night meeting of the Clark County Extension Council. Heart Month was observed Thursday evening by members of Chapter 632, American Association of Retired Persons, at its meeting in the Family Life Center at Central Baptist Church. Nellie F. Adams has returned to her home on Belmont following a month-long stay with her sister Bertha F. Walton in Long Beach, Calif., and a several weeks' stay with her brother, James B. Fox of Tucson, Ariz.

Mabel Snowdon Clark, 101, of Norfolk, Va., formerly of Winchester, widow of James Alan Clark, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation. A native of Clark County, she was born Feb. 11, 1911, to the late Dr. John A. Snowdon and Ada Lilly Snowdon. She was a retired school teacher from Hannah McClure School, member of the Central Baptist Church, member of the L.L.L. Club and band, and the Kenny Edgington Sunday School Class. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan (Joyce)

Dr. Travis Drake, 33, has accepted the pastorate of Central Baptist church and preached his first sermon as pastor Nov. 25. The church voted overwhelmingly to call Drake as its senior pastor on Nov. 11, concluding a nearly two-year search. Drake most recently served as a church planter and senior pastor of The Baptist Worship Center in Mount Sterling, where he had been for the last five years. He also served as associate pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Monroe, Ga. He is a graduate of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Va., where he received his doctor of ministry, masters of divinity, masters of arts in religion, and bachelor of science degrees.

Eugene Noel, 81, of Winchester, widower of Patricia A. Noel, passed away Friday at the Mayfair Manor in Lexington. A native of Midway, he was born Jan. 20, 1931, to the late Paul and Willa Childers Noel. He was a United States Air Force veteran during the Korean War. He retired after 28 years of service from IBM, and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Greg Noel, of Lexington, and Gene (Betsy) Noel of Nicholasville; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy (Marie)

The Winchester Chorale has always tried to make its concerts community events. This year, the spring concert will feature more community members than ever before, thanks to partnerships with five local churches. The Festival of Choirs will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Central Baptist Church and will feature performances of gospel music from Broadway Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, Central Baptist Church, First Baptist Church (Lexington Avenue) and Allensville Baptist Church.

Donations from throughout Clark County have made a Thanksgiving meal possible for 500 families.For the past 12 years, Ark of Mercy Church of God has hosted Harvest Sunday, a special Thanksgiving service and food box giveaway. “They get the spiritual food, and the Thanksgiving meal,”¿Janice Claypoole, Ark of Mercy senior minister, said. Volunteers from the church pass out coupons at local housing projects and to other families in need, which can be redeemed after morning or evening services the Sunday before Thanksgiving.Boxes include turkey, green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls and cranberry sauce.
