LIBERTY - A Casey County grand jury has indicted a man on assault charges after he allegedly stabbed someone during a fight in May. Randall Wayne Luttrell, 25, is charged with second-degree assault and first-degree persistent felony offender. The charges stem from when Luttrell allegedly stabbed or cut Robin F. Scott in the head and hand with a knife in May. Dep. Kevin Roberts of the Casey County Sheriff's Office testified before the grand jury. Others indicted are: Danny Keith Hall, 46, flagrant non-support for allegedly being about $32,77.

WINCHESTER POLICE Charges ? Robert Bennett of Mount Sterling was charged Monday for shoplifting. ? Michael Chenault of 206 First St., was summons Tuesday for indecent exposure. ? Elwood Thomas of 103 Madison was summonsed Tuesday for indecent exposure. ? Billie J. Barnes of 4 Leonard St. was charged Tuesday for failure to signal, no seatbelt and possession of marijuana. ? Aaron Frazier of 120 Cook Ave. was served a warrant for not paying child support.

By Michael Broihier Friday evening I sat in my wife's kitchen garden sipping a beer and struggling with the fact that I'd actually begun to feel sorry for Jamarkos Campbell during his trial for the murder of Ryan Shangraw and Bo Upton. It wasn't empathy stirred by anything his lawyer said; the defense was lackluster at best, but sadness at the inevitability of the whole thing. We live on a hill, and as I sat among the peas, onions, potatoes and strawberries, in every direction I looked I saw green, freshly-mown pastures dotted with bales ready to be picked up and stored for winter.

HARRODSBURG - A Mercer County grand jury has indicted two people for allegedly stealing laptop computers from Trim Masters Inc. Roger Criss, 31, of Lancaster, and Dreama Dominguez, 50, of Mount Hope, W.V., were each charged with burglary and theft more than $300 for allegedly breaking into the Trim Masters facility on March 11 and taking five laptop computers owned by the company. Criss also was indicted on two additional burglary charges for allegedly breaking into the plant on March 1 and March 16, though he was not charged with taking anything during those incidents.

Clark County's most wanted list is at least five names shorter, a week after pictures of 55 wanted people appeared in The Winchester Sun. Five arrests, plus one who was arrested before publication of "Clark County's Most Wanted" on unrelated charges, counts for 9 percent of the most wanted being taken off the streets, and Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. is hoping for more. "Actually, we've had a great response," Perdue said Monday. "We've had in the neighborhood of 75 to 100 phone calls.

First Assistant Jessamine County Attorney Anna Roberts-Smith spends a large portion of her time each week in court prosecuting contempt of court cases of people who fail to pay child support for one reason or another. Time and again over the years Roberts-Smith has heard individuals claim they couldn't pay because they couldn't find a job. In looking at the majority of those individuals, she found one common denominator which was hindering them from obtaining a job; the lack of a high school diploma or GED certificate.

A Boyle County grand jury has indicted two men on incest charges in separate incidents. Joe Dean Shannon, 40, 301 Hill-N-Dale, Apt. No. 56, was charged with incest and first-degree sodomy for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse and deviate sexual intercourse with a female less than 18 years old between Nov. 26 and Dec. 21. Bond for Shannon was set at $50,000. Danville Detective A.J. Mullins testified before the grand jury. James B. Turner, 45, 702 Perkins Ave., was charged with incest for allegedly having sex with a child less than 18 years old between December 2005 and July 2008 as a continuing course of conduct.

The numbers and facts were staggering, Jessamine County Deputy Superintendent Owens Saylor said following a Kids Count presentation at The Providence School. "Still the challenges that are out there with the percentages that are astounding to me," he said. He was reacting to the message delivered by Providence students Adrianna White, Paul Clem, Kelsie Scott and Amber Whitaker about issues imperative to the success of local children and youth.
