Airth, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, sentence amended, 360 days, 276 days conditionally discharged, restitution. - Edward L. Duncan, alcohol intoxication, pleaded guilty, 14 days; second-degree fleeing or evading police, pleaded guilty, concurrent sentence; resisting arrest, dismissed; second-degree possession of a controlled substance, pleaded guilty, concurrent sentence; possession of marijuana, pleaded guilty, concurrent sentence.

May 2, 1988 U.S. Sixth District Rep. Larry Hopkins told a crowd of 62 Patient Care Assistant 1 graduates Saturday there are now more people in the United States over the age of 65 than there are under the age of 17. The 62 received their certification in PCA training at the ceremony Saturday afternoon at Winchester Manor Health Care Center. Plans are under way for making the Monday, July 4, celebration at Lykins Park one of the biggest yet in Clark County, according to Roberta Skinner, chairperson for the event.

The Clark County Community Foundation has announced that it will award up to $250,000 in matching grants to Clark County non-profit agencies that participate in the 2013 GoodGiving Guide Challenge. The GoodGiving Guide Challenge, a partnership between Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing, is an online giving campaign for the benefit of local non-profits. The challenge runs from November to Dec. 31. In 2012, the Challenge raised almost $600,000 for 68 central Kentucky non-profits.

Fifteen Clark County youth participated in the Bluegrass Area Communications Festival last weekend in Powell County. Participants presented speeches and demonstrations in the eight county contest. A Georgetown man was arrested Sunday night in Jessamine County on attempted sodomy charges from an incident in Winchester in December. According to the arrest warrant filed by Winchester Police, 21-year-old Zachary A. Myers was staying with a friend on Dale Drive on Dec. 1, 2012. A witness told police there were several children sleeping in a room and saw Myers kneeling over an 8-year-old girl with his genitals exposed. The witness told police it looked like he was about to place his genitals in the child's mouth when the witness yelled at him. Myers allegedly jumped up, sat on the couch and said he was sorry.

A group of 28 George Rogers Clark High School teachers and staff members are on a mission to become losers. “You have teachers, you have principals, you have sports staff participating,” said Sara Stone, GRCHS biology teacher. The group is using weekly weigh-ins and a little healthy competition to kick-start weight loss efforts, Stone said. Eight years ago, a group of faculty and staff members created a weight-loss competition styled after the reality TV show “The Biggest Loser.” Recently, several teachers found themselves wanting to shed some pounds again, after years of taking care of their children and families and neglecting their own health, so they decided to try the competition again.

The Clark County Fiscal Court presented a draft of its more than $14.6 million budget for the 2014 fiscal year Wednesday. While some county departments' requests were trimmed, it pinpointed the amount that would be given to each department, if any, from the Community Foundation Fund, according to a budget summary handed out by Clark County Judge-Executive Henry Branham. The county is still about $60,000 short of meeting budget, but the court plans to restrict spending while keeping services intact.
