BUTCHERTOWN - A chicken and ham supper will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Butchertown Community Center to raise funds for a building expansion. The menu includes chicken and/or ham, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, rolls, beverages and homemade desserts. The community plans to add on to its center soon.

The Boonesboro Lions Club annual fish fry will be Saturday at the club house on Ford-Hampton Road from 1 to 6 p.m. Dinners are $9 at the door, or $8 in advance, and include fish, cole slaw, hush puppies and french fries. Children ages 3-12 eat for $3.

Junction City Elementary School will have its Dinner Theater 7:30 p.m. Friday. This year's theme is Junction City Jamboree and will feature individual and class performances. A country style dinner will be served from 6-7 p.m. The boxed dinner includes chicken tenders, cole slaw, apple turnover, corn on the cob, baked beans and a biscuit. Tickets can be purchased for the dinner and show or just the show. Call the school at (859) 936-7524 for tickets or stop by the school. All proceeds from the Dinner Theater go toward new cafeteria tables for the students.

The annual free cookout, sponsored by local businesses and individuals, features pork tenderloin barbecue, cole slaw, baked beans, cooked apples, soft drinks and a wet bar. Oh, and politics. These ladies were supporting Judge Jeff Walson of Winchester for circuit court. Walson attended the event, as did his opponent, Judge Bill Clouse of Richmond.

The event will be from 1 to 6 p.m. and features hush puppies, french fries, cole slaw, tartar sauce and a drink for $8 in advance or $9 at the door. Children 3-12 are only $3. Main Street curbs to be washed tonight At midnight tonight, Public Works personnel will power wash the sidewalk curb area of Main Street between Second and Fourth streets. Anyone who parks his vehicle in this area should make alternative arrangements tonight.   Fish fry planned for Saturday Cedar Creek Sportsman Club will host a crappie fish fry on Saturday. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the meal will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, and children ages 4 and younger may eat free.

PAINT LICK — The Paint Lick Sportsman’s Club building, a landmark in the small Garrard County community for the last 55 years, was torn down early Monday morning, leaving only a pile of rubble to be sorted through and disposed of over the next week. The building suffered severe damage in the early May flooding. It seemed possible the rising floodwaters shifted the building on its foundation, making it structurally unsound. Club Chairwoman Deborah Messenger said she was told the roof came down very easily when demolition began — a sign the foundation had indeed shifted.
