NASHVILLE ? For four years Kentucky coaches and players have praised the play of defensive tackle Corey Peters. "The thing about Corey is that he has always been a hard worker in practice and always a dependable, solid player who made plays. This year he started to make plays where you noticed him more," said Kentucky defensive coordinator Steve Brown. "He has always been that kind of player but started to do things to catch your attention even more. I am proud and happy for him. He has a great chance to play in the NFL. He has always been a phenomenal young man. He is a very thoughtful person.

Seeing the success that Myron Pryor and Corey Peters, two Louisville natives, had playing football at the University of Kentucky had an impact on Brandon Dunn's decision to commit to the Wildcats. LEXINGTON ? Kentucky was so close to the historic win it desperately wanted. Given a chance to end a 24-game losing streak to Tennessee, the Wildcats couldn't do it. Instead, they settled for a field goal with 33 seconds left here Saturday night that tied the score 24-24 and then, just as every Kentucky-Tennessee game has since 1984, the Vols won. This time it came when Kentucky lost six yards on three plays in overtime and missed a 48-yard...

Corey Peters will have mixed emotions in his final regular-season game against Tennessee on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium. "I'm sad that it's over, it's coming to an end, and it went by so fast," Peters said earlier this week. "But, I'm also excited about new opportunities, graduating and becoming a grown up. At the end of the day, there are mixed emotions. " The Kentucky defensive tackle will be among 26 seniors, along with junior quarterback Will Fidler, who will be honored prior to the Cats' contest against Tennessee.

LEXINGTON ? Senior tackle Corey Peters had one of his best games in Kentucky's 24-13 win at Vanderbilt last week and has been named Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his effort. He had five tackles, including 1.5 for losses, and a quarterback pressure. Both his tackles for loss led to Vanderbilt punts and his quarterback pressure forced an incomplete pass. His play helped the Wildcats limit Vanderbilt to just 209 total yards, the lowest total UK had allowed against a SEC opponent since 1996.

LEXINGTON ? Corey Peters has no problem admitting that Kentucky's season is on the line Saturday at Vanderbilt. The Wildcats take a 5-4 record into the game and need one more win to become bowl-eligible. However, Peters knows the Cats need to win at least two of their remaining three games against Vanderbilt, Georgia and Tennessee to assure themselves of a fourth straight bowl bid. "Our season is on the line. That is fair" said Peters Monday. "There is no guarantee you go to a bowl game with six wins based on how other SEC teams are also doing.

LEXINGTON ? Corey Peters was puzzled by Mississippi State's offensive showing following Kentucky's 31-24 loss to the Bulldogs Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium. Peters wasn't caught off-guard by Mississippi State's schemes, but was surprised the Wildcats couldn't stop the Bulldogs, especially in the back field. "We were prepared," Peters said. "We knew they were going to run the ball. " That's exactly what the guests did to the Cats on a night designated for trick or treats and it was Mississippi State that delivered the goods to their fans in a must-win encounter for both teams.
