LEXINGTON - A man found hanging at Logan-Hubble Memorial Park earlier this week has died. The Fayette County Coroner's office confirmed that Joe Johnson, 36, of Crab Orchard died Thursday. Johnson had been in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington following an apparent suicide attempt. He was found by Lincoln County deputy sheriffs at 7 p.m. Tuesday, when deputies went to train with a K9 unit. He was found in the park's barn area, hanging from a rope possibly used as a horse lead.

Ida Mae Wyler Gover, 95, of Stanford, passed away Sunday, March 31, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born Nov. 27, 1917, in Crab Orchard, Ida was a daughter of the late Chris and Mathilda Ladamann Wyler. She was the owner of Severance's Store in Stanford, a member of Stanford Christian Church and the widow of Walter J. Gover. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Hugh Kirkpatrick; two brothers, Al and Fred Wyler; and two sisters, Elizabeth Cooper and Margaret Alford.

Tonia Leah Martin, 42, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, March 18 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born Sept. 6, 1970, Tonia was a daughter of William Henry Countryman and the late Rebecca Susan Sowder Countryman. Other survivors include her husband, Michael Martin; daughters, Kayla Leah and Shayla Susan Martin; brothers, David Wayne (Leslie) and Kelly Wade Countryman; Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight (March 21) at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead.

Shirley Ann Simpson, 73, of Broughtontown, died Wednesday, March 6, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. Born Jan. 7, 1940, in Lincoln County, Shirley was a daughter of Viola (Brock) Noakes and the late Richard Noakes. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mary Margaret "Margie" Braley, 90, of Crab Orchard, passed away Tuesday, March 5, at her home. Born April 11, 1922, in Lincoln County, Margie was a daughter of the late Abe Harrison Brown and Susie Barker Brown. She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ and the widow of John Daniel Braley, who preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1999. James Artie Todd, 73, of Crab Orchard, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born May 26, 1939, in Quail, James was a son of the late Willie Hamm and Oscar Todd. He was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church and loved fishing and gardening. Lioba “Libby” Tucker, 91, of Shelby, Ohio, died Saturday, March 2, in Dublin Methodist Hospital in Dublin, Ohio. Born June 11, 1921, in Crab Orchard, Lioba was a daughter of the late Frank and Albertina (Schaeffer) Hoeck. She was a graduate of Broughtontown High School and the ultimate homemaker excelling in baking, cooking, sewing and crafts. She enjoyed gardening and tending flowers with her husband, John A. “Andy” Tucker, Jr., who she married on April 14, 1945, and who preceded her in death in 2005.

Vernice Irvin Yantz, 89, of KY Hwy 328 East, Waynesburg, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, at her home. Born Thursday, Nov. 8, 1923, in Lincoln County, Vernice was a daughter of the late Edmund and Dorothy Turner Irvin. She worked for many years at Cowden's Manufacturing in Stanford, was a member of Oak Grove Missionary #2 in Goochtown and was the widow of Enoch Yantz, Sr., who preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1980. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Joe, Bud, Bill, Homer and Leonard Irvin; and two sisters, Velma Reynolds and Elsie Hendrixson. Survivors include two sons, Enoch (Freida)
