Charged - Cayce Banker, 37, of 1018 W. Lexington Ave., Apt. 18, was charged Tuesday with theft by unlawful taking. - Christopher Douglas Keller, 30, of 13 Apache Trail, was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree rape. Reports - At 2:25 a.m. Tuesday, police received a report of theft. A black and white scooter was taken from an unknown address, somewhere near Holly Avenue. - At 2:42 a.m. Tuesday, police received a report of breaking and entering at 40 Flanagan St. A window was broken, and a TV and laptop were taken.

The former manager of East Kentucky Employees Federal Credit Union in Winchester pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Lexington to credit union embezzlement. According to the plea agreement filed in U.S. District Court in Lexington, Brian Tyler admitted to stealing more than $111,000 from the credit union beginning in 2009 and continuing through September 2011. Tyler faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a fine of $1 million. He is required to pay back about $136,000 to the credit union and its insurance company, of which he has already paid $35,000.

Whether the thieves target a business that handles card transactions at a point of sale terminal - sometimes by using devices that swipe a card number when a customer swipes his card - or the database of a large payment processing company, the results can be both frustrating and chilling for victims.

Reports - At 7:40 a.m. Friday, Joseph G. Johnson of 214 Robyn Drive reported that someone made two unauthorized purchases on his credit card. - At 11:45 a.m. April 27, Julie N. Gorham of 1211 Cooper Drive reported that someone broke into her sister's home at 4401 Irvine Road and took several pieces of jewelry.

Three Danville men have been indicted by a Boyle County grand jury for allegedly breaking into a home in February and robbing two people at gunpoint. Shawn Faulkner, 20, of 88 Duncan Hill, and Marcus Beasley, 19, of 425 Patrician Place, were each charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and second-degree burglary. Jauqua Beasley, 24, of 224 North Street, was similarly charged and also faces three counts of being a persistent felony offender. According to the indictments, the three men broke into Edward Harlan's home on Feb. 4 while armed.

The man who led police on a three-county high speed chase took the path of least resistance Wednesday and waived his case to the grand jury. Michael Osborne, 34, of Slade, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in district court for his charges from the March 27 pursuit, but decided not to have the hearing. Osborne is facing multiple charges, including first-degree wanton endangerment, receipt of a stolen credit card, disregarding a stop sign, receiving stolen property under $10,000, first-degree fleeing or evading police and receiving stolen property under $500.

Garrison, theft by unlawful taking, pleaded guilty, 90 days conditionally discharged; contempt of court, pleaded guilty. - Bryan C. Raney, fraudulent use of a credit card, pleaded guilty, 30 days conditionally discharged, restitution. - Charolette Smith, theft by unlawful taking, pleaded guilty, 30 days conditionally discharged.
