JUNCTION CITY - A man was arrested Thursday morning after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and attempted to drown her. Gregory Rogers, 48, of 211 Allene Drive in Danville, was arrested about 8 a.m. on charges of kidnapping and first-degree attempted assault. According to police, Rogers and his ex-girlfriend, Clela A. Durham, went on a date in an attempt to reconcile their relationship. According to a police report, the two drove to the “Penn Hole” in the Forkland community after dinner where Rogers became enraged over a past incident.

Man arrested after fleeing from police A Hustonville man was arrested early this morning after allegedly fleeing from police in Danville. Just after midnight, Danville police officer Chris Wentz attempted to stop a 2001 Ford car near Hustonville Road and the Danville bypass for speeding, disregarding a traffic control device and suspicion of driving under the influence. According to a press release, Joshua R. Phelps, 31, refused to stop and continued driving south on the bypass toward Junction City.

Families First Family Resource Center in Danville and the Family Nurturing Center of Northern Kentucky are sponsoring a two-day facilitator training for the Nurturing Father's Program.  The training is scheduled 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. June 6 and 7 at the First Baptist Church, at 1570 N. U.S. 127 Bypass. The cost is $250 per participant, and the deadline to register is Friday. For more information, contact Anna Houston at (859) 936-8564 or anna.houston@danville.kyschools.us. The Nurturing Father's Program supports a 13-week, group-based program for developing attitudes and skills for male nurturance.

This week, five Danville police officers and one Boyle County deputy sheriff are training at Millennium Park to become bike patrol certified. Chief Rafael Casas of Western Kentucky University Police Department came to Danville to provide the training. “They've been doing good,” Casas said of his six students as they practiced different maneuvers on the bikes. In one area, cones were set up in parallel rows, which Casas said was to teach the officers how to move around people in a large crowd.

Two fallen Danville police officers were remembered Wednesday for making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Danville police, local residents, and family gathered at 2:30 p.m. at Bellevue Cemetery on North First Street to pay respects to late officers John T. Crum and Sgt. James Ryan Sr. Sgt. Ryan was supervising night shift on Nov. 3, 1968, Danville Police Chief Tony Gray told those present. One of Ryan's officers was responding to a situation when he called for backup.
