GRC grads make Transy dean’s list Eleven former George Rogers Clark High School students were named to the Transylvania University dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester. Those honored included: Hannah Edwards, Jayme Farris, Benjamin Grawe, Sara Harris, Sarah Jagielski, Justin Penticuff, Hillary Roser, Nathaniel Sames, Alyson Vincent and Caitlyn Vincent. Roberts makes dean’s list at Cumberland Amy Roberts of Winchester was among the students named to the University of the Cumberlands dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester.

BCTC seeking names for outstanding alumnus Bluegrass Community and Technical College is seeking nominations for its 2011 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year. The award is designed to honor a BCTC alumnus who represents the positive qualities of the institution’s graduates. Nominees must be BCTC graduates or a graduate of a school incorporated into BCTC, such as Lexington Technical Institute, Lexington Community College or Central Kentucky Technical College. Deadline for nominations is Monday, April 4. The successful candidate must: — make a positive contribution in his/her field and the community in which he/she resides.

June 25, 1961 WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Sam Rayburn of Texas predicted today that the House would pass an aid-to-education bill this session. Three Winchester cadets at the University of Kentucky have arrived at Fort Knox for six weeks of field training and practical work in the subject of theories that they have been studying in military classes. They are Joseph K. Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse G. Robinson, 107 S. Highland St.; William G. Conkwright Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Conkwright Sr., 250 S. Highland St.; and George G. Berryman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Linville Berryman, Ruckerville Pike.

Graduates Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy: Christopher Carter received a doctor of pharmacy degree June 5. He is the son of Gary Carter of Stanford and Gayle Spoonamore of Danville. Centre College: Elizabeth Danielle Thompson graduated May 22 at the 188th commencement ceremony, held at the college’s Norton Center for the Arts. She earned bachelor’s degrees in English and Studio Art, and graduated magna cum laude. She also was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society, by the Centre College chapter, Beta of Kentucky.

  Scott named director of laboratory services Rick Scott has been named to the position of director of Laboratory Services at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Scott has been employed at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center since 1991. During his career at Ephraim McDowell he has served as a lab technician, lab facilitator and lab manager. He earned an associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Kentucky.
