McAnly, 39, Scrubgrass Road, driving under the influence of intoxicants, $250, license suspended 120 days; no seat belt, $25; and possession of open alcohol container in vehicle, dismissed. CIVIL JUDGMENTS Civil judgments handed down in Boyle Circuit Court include: E.N. Johnson Oil Co. vs. David Murphy, default judgment for plaintiff, $50,000.

Dear Editor Col. Riley, by letter posted Jan. 7, commented on the Obama campaign's defense of lawsuits challenging Obama's citizenship. Under the open court system in the U.S.A., anybody can sue anybody else at any time for any reason, and it is up to a court, not a clerk or other functionary, to decide if the case should go forward. Of course, Obama's people filed denials of the claims - that is routine procedure to avoid being saddled with a default judgment. As to the truth of the allegations - there is a fascinating article at FactCheck.
