Dear Editor, This is in response to Mrs. Followell's comments about the entrance fee for the Boyle County fair. Yes, I agree with, partially, her comment on the cost of everything it takes to get a family of four or more to the fair. I do not agree with her that the price should be broken down as to the separate events and rides. I would like to remind her of the Mercer County fair. The Mercer County fair is going to cost you $8 to enter plus $5 for the horse show that very few of the local people go to watch.

Chris Kersey of Winchester, in car 801, won the 2009 Demolition Derby at the Clark County Fair Saturday night. The 33-year-old painter, who has been participating in similar competitions for 13 years, since his uncle, Cecil Stone, got him interested in the sport, has won more than 36 trophies in his career. "It's a rush that you can't explain," he said, when asked what he likes about the sport. But he admitted it's dangerous. "My biggest fear is catching fire," he said. The car Kersey drove Saturday night was a 1989 Lincoln with a 383 stroker engine rebuilt at Dave's Machine Shop.
