• Burnis Sparkman Jr., 47, 501 Savannah Court, was arrested April 20 at 1034 N. Main St., Waffle House, and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs. • Eugenio Tepec Garcia, 47, 118 Evergreen Court, was arrested April 21 at the same address and charged with fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. • Bryan H. Arrowwood, 36, 155 Southview Drive No. 33, was arrested April 26 at the same address and charged with failure to comply with sex-offender registry.

Dear Editor, What a beautiful fall evening the “Walk Out Of Violence” participants/supporters enjoyed Friday. The weather was perfect for the approximately 400 who came in support of an obvious concern in our community. This event was the brainstorm of Vickie Bowling and Cathy Lynch, who enlisted the help of The Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program, family and friends of Sharon Lynn Daugherty and concerned citizens, who never want to see another senseless loss as occurred with Sharon.

WINCHESTER POLICE DEPARTMENT    Charged - Angelia Abbot, 31, of 67 Holiday Road, was charged Thursday with two counts of theft by unlawful taking. - James W. Banks, 33, of 300 C.G. Stephenson Drive, Apt. 207, was charged Thursday with violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). - Jimmy Griggs, 23, of 67 Holiday Road, was charged Thursday with theft by unlawful taking. - Joshua Anthony Patrick, 30, of 50 N. Main St., Apt. 303, was charged Thursday with fleeing/evading police on foot and tampering with physical evidence and was served a warrant.

HARRODSBURG - Gordon "Cappy" Wheeler will serve 12 months in the Boyle County Detention Center on domestic violence charges. Mercer Circuit Judge Darren Peckler told Wheeler Tuesday that even if he did not serve the full 12-month sentence he got in Fayette County, he will serve it here. Wheeler, 35, of 1155 Mundy's Landing Road, pleaded guilty to assaulting Allison Leonard, a former exotic dancer, at a Lexington motel in 2004. She lived with him in Mercer County nine months prior to the assault.

Charged - Gregory C. Ballard, 44, of 843 Crowe Ridge Road, was charged Thursday with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). Accident - At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Clarence R. Skeens, 43, of 210 Abbeywood Drive, was traveling east on Glenway Drive. He left the road, traveled through a grass field, down an embankment and struck the side of a house. Skeens could not provide an explanation for what happened because of medical conditions. He was transported to Clark Regional Medical Center.

Charged — Stephanie D. Moore, 28, of 605 Westwood Drive, was charged Wednesday with theft by deception. — Brandon L. Conkwright, 23, of 727 Agawam Road, was charged Wednesday with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). Reports — At 3 p.m. Wednesday, John Warner of 1630 Log Lick Road reported that someone tried to pry open his window Sunday or Monday night. — At 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Donnie E. Strohacker of 125 Bayhill Drive reported that someone took his storage trailer which was behind Rainbow Bingo Hall on Rockwell Road.

LIBERTY - Danny Cook, a police officer charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of a local man, pleaded innocent to the charge Monday during arraignment in Casey Circuit Court. Cook, 40, of Danville, was indicted in October in the shooting death of Leon Brown, 52, of Liberty, who died July 30 of a gunshot in the chest. The incident occurred after Cook responded to a domestic violence call at the Brown residence. Circuit Judge James G. Weddle set Cook's trial for 9 a.m. March 11.
