Builder's Surplus burglarized Danville police investigated a burglary at midnight Jan. 1 at Builder's Surplus on Stewarts Lane. According to the police report, there were no signs of forcible entry, and items taken included a Rigid compound miter saw, a Makita skill saw, a Hewlet-Packard fax machine and a Sanyo microwave. Items taken from dentist's office City police said two DVD players were reported stolen Tuesday from the office of Dr. Susan Couzens at 400 S. Fourth St.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that lamb producers, feeders, and first handlers have the opportunity to vote in a nationwide referendum on whether to continue or terminate the Lamb Promotion, Research, and Information Order, authorized under the Commodity Promotion, Research, and Information Act of 1996. The referendum is being held Feb. 2-27. Beginning Feb. 2 and continuing through Feb. 27, persons eligible to vote can obtain form LS-86 from a county FSA office either in person, by mail, fax, or via the Internet at: http://www.

The theme is “NAACP: One nation, one dream.” Keynote speaker is Rev. Robert Blythe, president of the Richmond, Madison County branch of the NAACP. A non-tax deduction donation of $15 is requested.
