Dear Editor, On behalf of the Boyle County Schools Home-School Relations/Communications Team, and as a senior parent member of the Boyle County Quarterback Club, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Ernie Holman. Mr. Holman has privately donated and conducted spectacular fireworks displays throughout each Boyle County home football game. Beautiful night shows in coordination with the national anthem and after every touchdown have become an awesome tradition. Our school district was ranked No. 1 in the central Kentucky region on spring 2006 state test scores.

Aproposed county ordinance banning the sale of Class C fireworks was presented Tuesday to the Jessamine County Fiscal Court. The court did not take any action on the ordinance, which would require two readings before approval. Jessamine County Fire Chief Mike Rupard said the ordinance is identical to one passed recently by the Nicholasville City Commission but would apply to the county. “If we don't adopt it, a person can simply step outside the city limits and sell whatever they want,” he said.

Independence Day! Backyard picnics, swimming, games, playground fun and fireworks! Pets enjoy all these activities except the fireworks. Dogs and cats have more sensitive ears and if an animal happens to have an ear infection, the pain from the noise of fireworks is excruciating. Obviously the animal cannot understand where the noise came from or what it is all about. It doesn't care about the lights and colors in the sky, all it knows is that there is a terrific noise that hurts the ears, the ground trembles (if you and the pet are close enough to the launching area)

The total budget for Herrington Lites sat at roughly $13,000, and Cole, despite the help of dedicated donors, found herself $2,000 shy of that figure.
