I want to commend Bro. Howard Coop, chaplain of Lancaster Lodge #104 for his fine explanation of the meaning of Easter and then want to share the fact that 50 days after Easter comes Pentecost Sunday. This is the day set aside to celebrate the birth of the New Testament Church. In Matthew’s Gospel the statement is made, “And upon this rock I will build my church. ... ” Some view this as the day the church was first established and others say that this is the first revival of the New Testament Church.

Christ Temple’s yard, bake sale at Oliver Street Christ Temple Church, 209 Madison Ave., will host an indoor yard sale and bake sale today at the Oliver Street Community Center. ONGOING Trolley, bus tours In honor of Preservation Month, the Bluegrass Heritage Museum and Winchester-Clark County Tourism will offer trolley and bus tours of historic places in Winchester. The bus or trolley will leave the museum at 6 p.m. The tours are: — Winchester Cemetery and stories of Civil War soldiers, May 24. The cost is $10. — A 200-year-old historic home in Clark County, May 31. The cost is $15 and includes a box dinner. Registration is required.

Human Services Council May 17 The Clark County Human Services Council will meet May 17 at noon in the meeting room at Arby’s. Representatives of all human service agencies serving Clark County may attend. Youth Fishing Day at Game Club May 21 The Clark County Fish and Game Club will hold its annual Youth Fishing Day on Saturday, May 21. The event, which is open to all youths under 16 years of age, will begin at 9 a.m. at their club house on Water Works Road.

Get your motor running and head out on the highway to Community Park on Saturday for the Winchester Lions Club’s fish fry and motorcycle rally. If you like smoke and lightning, and heavy metal thunder, you won’t want to miss it. The bikers’ fish fry will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lions Club’s shelter across the street from the bowling alley and next to the city cemetery. To get there from Lexington Avenue, turn north onto Bloomfield Road, go to the end and turn right.

Benefit fish fry set LIBERTY — A benefit fish fry will be held for Howard Thompson 5-8 p.m. Friday at The Village Restaurant. In addition to the fish fry, a live and silent auction will be held.
