LIBERTY - The following people recently were indicted by a Casey County grand jury: Charles Keith Clements, 54, 68 Rubarts Road, Dunnville, allegedly cultivating more than five marijuana plants on Aug. 7. A summons was issued. Deputy Chad Weddle testified before the grand jury. Charles Lewis Hale, 29, and Miranda Baker, 26, both of Stanford, theft more than $500 for allegedly taking an 18-foot trailer belonging to Rob Hundley on Aug. 20. A¿summons was issued. Weddle testified.

Former paralegal Stacy Beitz, who was indicted on three counts of second-degree forgery in March, may see more charges by the time her case goes to trial Nov. 5. Beitz was indicted for defrauding her boss, Mike Hamilton, on three different occasions by altering or signing checks drawn from the Citizens Commerce National Bank account of Hamilton & Associates. The checks ranged in value from approximately $500 to $1,000. Second-degree forgery is a class-D felony. According to Hamilton, more charges may be filed.

Former Jessamine County Detention Center jail captain Brian Shearer has pleaded guilty to theft and second-degree forgery, a fraction of the 39 counts he was indicted for in December 2011. In July, he pleaded guilty to four charges of theft by unlawful taking, more than $500, which are Class-A one second-degree forgery charge, both are Class-D felonys. All other charges were dismissed. Earlier this month, Shearer made his first $1,000 payment of the more than $7,000 owed in restitution, which he agreed upon in a plea agreement to avoid a three-year prison term.

Juliano, 19, no address given, was charged Friday with fourth-degree assault, after a reported fight at Hickman Street Grocery. - Sam Little, 36, of 35 Hiawatha Trail, was charged Saturday with reckless driving and carrying a concealed weapon. - Leonardo Ordones, 43, of 250 Oxford Drive Apt. 1, was charged Saturday with no operator's license, driviing under the influence and reckless driving.

The trial date for a former jail captain charged with forgery and theft of nearly $7,000 has been set for 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 16. In December, a grand jury indicted Brian Shearer on 20 counts of theft by unlawful taking with a value less than $500 and four counts of theft by unlawful taking with a value more than $500 from the detention center. The jury also indicted him on 15 counts of second-degree forgery. During the course of his various jobs at the jail, Shearer allegedly stole money and committed the forgery offenses by forging information on notice of jail credit forms that were required to be filed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Administrative Office of the Court.

A former employee of the Jessamine County Detention Center has been charged with stealing money belonging to the detention center and forging notices of jail credit. Brian Shearer, 35, 105 1/2 Cottage St., was indicted by a Jessamine County grand jury in December on 20 charges of theft by unlawful taking, value less than $500; four counts of theft by unlawful taking, value more than $500; and 15 counts of second-degree forgery, according to documents filed Dec. 9 in the Jessamine Circuit Clerk office.
