Dear Editor, In reference to my previous letter concerning all the trash left at the Veterans Wall and the paint on the night of the Danville-Boyle County football game, I forgot one point. We would also like the person who removed the gas can from the tank to please return it. It is of no use to anyone, because there are four holes drilled in it. It was fastened to the tank for that very reason, to make it of no use to anyone — except what it stands for. Return the tank and we’ll re-attach, no questions asked.

Dear Editor: Sometime we feel unable to affect anything that's as global as the recent rise in gas prices. We all have our suspicions why the price of a gallon of gas has skyrocketed. Often I've heard that we should feel good that we're not like other countries where the price is double what we pay. Well, I hear, but that doesn't make me feel any better when I fill up at the pump. For people who makes, say $17-20 and hour, it means they must work three hours to pay for a tank of gas. Longer if you make less than that.

Dear Editor, We are the people. So why are we sitting idly by and allowing this mess called an economy to happen? The old cliché that the rich get richer while the poor get poorer has never meant more than in today's world. We are the people. I had to memorize the preamble in the seventh-grade and can still recite it word for word today. So, to the point: We the people always have heard the powers that be explain the high cost of fuel by stating it's really all supply and demand.

Dear Editor: I work at a local convenience store and due to previous drive-offs and possible drive-offs in the future, the owner decided to have people prepay for gasoline. The workers at the store have been cussed at and some of the people who come in are very rude. Credit cards and debit cards can also be used at the pumps if they don't want to prepay. The ones who leave make me think that they may have intended to drive off without paying. I agree that this may be a hassle for some but when someone decides to steal their gas, all of us are affected.

As I read the March 21 article regarding discussions between Centre College and the Danville Architectural Review Board about plans for the former Marathon gas station on Main Street, I sat back on the couch and pondered for a while.  If I were a first-time visitor driving into Danville and saw a closed down gas station in need of repair with broken concrete and gravel in front, or a paved, maintained and landscaped parking lot, which would have...

Dear editor, Saturday, June 16, I was in Paris and Sunday June 17, I was in Clay City. Both places, gas was 15-20 cents cheaper than Winchester. In fact, it was $3.27 in Clay City and $3.45 in Winchester. Why? Does it cost more to deliver to Winchester or are the gas station owners greedier? Greedy, I think. It's always been pushed to buy local. Well, my local gas stations are now in surrounding counties due to the cost. On the average, it is usually cheaper in Madison County, and since I work there, my gas money gets spent in Madison, not Clark, County.
