Greers celebrate golden anniversary Paul and Lois Greer of Lancaster celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 30 with their family. They were married Nov. 30, 1957, by Robert Scott. They have two children, Paul Keith Greer of Lancaster and Deborah Ann Turner of Warner-Robbins, Ga.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Brants celebrate 60 years together Lee J. and Hazel Abbott Brant of Danville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Friday.

Feb. 14, 1987 When it comes to trapshooting, there are few better than Winchester's own Bill Castle. And that includes the entire country, as Castle has just been named to the 1987 Amateur Trapshooting Association men's All-American second team. The honor means he ranks among the top 30 trapshooters in the men's division in the country. Many members of the George Rogers Clark High School Future Business Leaders of America participated in the annual Business Attire Day this week at the school.

Mixing with students in the school cafeteria is nothing new for recent Lincoln County High School graduates Hannah Gutenson and Kevin Pettit. Mixing with students from the 1930Ãs, 1940Ãs, etc., well thatÃs something completely different. Gutenson and Pettit did just that Saturday night at LCHS as graduates from the 1930Ãs to the 1970Ãs gathered in the cafeteria for the 33rd annual Crab Orchard High School Alumni Association banquet. The 2007 LCHS graduates were just two honorees slated for recognition at the annual banquet.

Billy Joe and Hazel Patrick Nichols of 5944 Lexington Road celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 28 with a luncheon at their home. The couple married on June 28, 1958, in Williamson, W.Va. They have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Feb. 20, 1984 Mrs. Eugene Culton has returned to her home, 19 Short St., after attending a state-wide meeting of the Christian Women's Fellowship Cabinet at Nazareth, near Bardstown. Mrs. Culton is coordinator for District 4. The Boonesboro Road Homemakers Club held its February meeting in the homemakers room at the Clark County Health Department with Mrs. George Lee as hostess and Mrs. James Kirby assisting. Mr. and Mrs. Leon W. Gibson, Versailles, formerly of Winchester, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall at the Versailles United Methodist Church.

Keville and Peggy Sue Turner celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, Oct. 19 at a surprise party given by their children at the Clark County Fairgrounds. Keville Turner and Peggy Sue Ramsey were married at the home of the bride on Highway 15, Oct. 19, 1958. The couple now resides in Saluda, N.C. They have four children, John (Donna) Turner of Winchester, Stephen Turner of Saluda, N.C., Myra (Sam) Summey of Mohawk, Tenn. and Paul (Tera) Turner of Hendersonville, N.C. They also have 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The story of Brandon Ellis is one of the latest chapters in a long history of Boyle County farmers. He's also the latest chapter in the story of a family of state fair exhibitors. For 50 years, the last three generations of the Dale Ellis family and Vista Brook Farm on Webster Road have exhibited pure bredlivestock at the Kentucky State Fair. This year, the golden anniversary year of that tradition, was no exception. Except this year was sweeter than most, with Brandon's hog winning honors as the 4-H and Future Farmers of America Sale of Champions Reserve Grand Champion.

Jerry Dunn breezed in - and right back out - of the business he has been helping support for decades, as if he feared being conscripted to put in just one more day. After 44 years of good and faithful service, Dunn officially retired March 2 from his longstanding position as advertising manager for The Advocate-Messenger and The Interior Journal newspapers. Dunn actually worked for the company for three years before leaving to serve with the U.S. Army. In September 1967, he completed his tour of duty and came home from Fort Dix, N.J., to continue his career with the newspaper, which actually brings his tenure with the company to 47 years.
