Brooke Powell was recently crowned the 2011 Miss Bowling Green Outstanding Teen on Saturday at the Capitol Arts Theater. She competed in private interview, on-stage question, talent and evening gown. She will compete in Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen June 9-11 at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset.

Boehme-Lawson The wedding of Amy Catherine Boehme and Devin Shane Lawson took place at 6 p.m. Oct. 2, 2009, at Veritas Vineyards, Afton, Va. For the outdoor ceremony, the bride wore a mermaid-style wedding gown, beaded veil and garter, made by the grooms mother. The maid of honor was Nikki Boehme, sister of the bride, of Owings Mills, Md. Bridesmaids were Jen Horner of New York, N.Y.; Breanna Dugan of Baltimore, Md.; Stephanie Byrnes of Los Angeles, Calif.; Jacqui Spies of Cambridge, Md.; Jamie Boland of Westminster, Md.; and Kirsten Agnello of Jersey City, N.J. Flower girl was Natalie Peay of Sykesville, Md. Best man was Tarl Lawson, brother of the groom, of U.S. Territory of Guam.

Courtney Amber Byrne and Joseph Searle, both of Knoxville, Tenn., were united in marriage Aug. 15, 2009, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Knoxville. Cesar Correa officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Sherry and the late Jeff Byrne of Knoxville. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of Tennessee and is employed by Medical Management Professionals. The groom is the son of James and Karen Searle of Nicholasville. He is a 2003 graduate of West Jessamine High School and a 2007 graduate of Transylvania University.

Fish fry to help tornado victims CLEMENTSVILLE ? Worthington-Ward Devon Barnes Worthington, daughter of Dennis and Dena Worthington of Harrodsburg, and Mason Tyler Ward, son of Darrell and Sherri Ward of Harrodsburg, were united in marriage at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at Hunter's Trace Farm owned by Stanley Kelly in Harrodsburg. The Rev. Jon Hall officiated the outdoor ceremony. The couple was married under a gazebo decorated with white canvas, fresh ivy and white satin ribbon. Rose petals in pink and ivory adorned each side of the aisle where the chairs were set for guests.

By Nancy Leedy The Lincoln County Fair opened its 2009 run in royal fashion, crowning two queens ? Miss Lincoln County Fair and Miss Lincoln County ? under the lights of the Teddy Gilbert Memorial Pageant Pavilion Monday night. Jaime Elizabeth Horne, 18, of Paris, garnered the winner's crown in the 2009 Miss Lincoln County Fair contest, over 17 other contestants. Sharing the winner's spotlight with Horne was 18-year-old Nicolette Dawn Coontz of Stanford. Coontz was deemed by the judges as the top local contestant out of six entries to wear the Miss Lincoln County crown.

Olivia Allen knows how hard it can be to find just the right prom dress - especially at a reasonable price. So when it came time for her to develop a service project for the Governor's Scholars Program as well as an individual service project for the National Honor Society, a dress closet was mentioned as a possibility when she bounced around ideas with her parents. "We had heard of them in other states, and there's nothing like it around here," explains Olivia, a junior at Danville High School.

Miss Tess Marie Sibcy and David Wayne Hammond were united in marriage Aug. 23 at the Crown Plaza Campbell House in Lexington at 5:30 p.m. by the Rev. Phil Case. The bride is the daughter of James and Carla Sibcy of Winchester. The groom is the son of Wayne and Yolanda Hammond of Louisville. The bride wore a white strapless satin corset gown with a pick-up skirt and sweep train. The gown was adorned with a jeweled brooch at the hip. She wore a custom-designed birdcage veil made of French netting.
