The First Baptist Church, East Lexington Avenue, was the scene at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, of the marriage of Esther Simonds and James Edward Reed. The bride is the daughter of Carol Jansky and Mark A Simonds I of Tacoma, Wash. The groom is the son of the late Lula Mae Reed and the late William Thomas Reed. Dr. John Owens officated and music was provided by Lindsey Hutchinson. The bride, given in marriage by Leon Cavins of Winchester, wore a floor-length princess-style satin gown designed with a fitted bodice, v-neckline and broad straps at the shoulders.

Monica Bentley and Chris Shearer exchanged marriage vows at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at First United Methodist Church. The bride is the daughter of Stan and Terri Bentley, and Mr. Shearer is the son of Vernon and Karen Shearer, all of Winchester. The Rev. James Williams officiated, and music was provided by Brandon Holder with Lauren Moss Gatti as vocalist. Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a one-piece, lace-over satin strapless, A-line corset back gown.

Lauren Trent and Ryan Ashcraft exchanged marriage vows at 4:30 p.m. June 30 at the Landmark Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Muncie and the Rev. Arthur Trent officiating. The bride is the daughter of Angela Goodin of Pineville and Arthur Trent of Georgetown. The groom is the son of Bearl and Cheryl Ashcraft of Winchester. Music was provided by Lisa Abraham with Gale Perry and Brock Barnhouse as vocalists. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white, fully sequined strapless gown accented with a court train.

Missy and Ernie Hutchins of Bardstown announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda Gail Hutchins, to Charles B. Knoppe, the son of Peggy Baird of Winchester and Charles Knoppe of Bardstown. The wedding will take place Sept. 22 at Holy Trinity Church in Fredericktown, Ky. The bride will be given in marriage by her father and will wear a a silk gown with pearl sequins and a cathedral train. She will carry a bouquet of red and white roses. Rachel Burton of Bardstown is the maid of honor and Josh Buckman of Springfield, Ky., is the best man. Bridesmaids include Jennifer Boone and Kayla Lampkin of Bardstown.

BROWNSTOWN, Ind. - The fourth annual Mrs. Kentuckiana Pageant was held Aug. 4 in Brownstown. The event is an official preliminary to the Mrs. Kentucky America Pageant and is produced by PageantCrown.com. The show was hosted by former Miss Indiana USA (and Miss Kentuckiana 2004) Kaitlyn Christopher; former Indiana's Junior Miss (and Kentuckiana Teen 2002) Katie Stam; and the reigning Mrs. Kentucky America and Mrs. Kentuckiana 2006, Dr. Denise Yates. Contestants competed in three equal phases of competition: personality in interview and public speaking; physical fitness in swimsuit and elegance in evening gown.

Quiliting classes planned in Lincoln STANFORD - A quilting class will be offered Monday at the Lincoln County Extension Service. The Quick Quarter Wall Hanging Quilt Class will meet 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Reservations are required by today. Call to register and to obtain a supply list for the class. Participants are responsible for their own fabric and supplies and may choose to purchase a book for the workshop. The class is appropriate for quilters of all skill levels. The instructor is Rita Stewart.

Yeiser of Winchester, and the groom is the son of Freda Tilley of Mount Airy, N.C., and Roger Adamson of Morganfield. The Rev. Melanie Mudge and the Rev. Michael Ralph officiated, and music was provided by Dr. Larry Sharp, organist; Paul Dolloff, violinist; and Kathy McDaniel and Kim Davis, vocalists.

The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Therese Riesbeck of Nicholasville. She is a graduate of Jessamine County High School and the University of Kentucky. She is employed by the Jessamine County Board of Education. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Chris Howard of Wickliffe, Ky. He is a graduate of Ballard Memorial High School, Murray State University and is employed at Lexmark.

Audrey Nicole Catlett, daughter of Jerry and Cathy Catlett of Lexington, formerly of Winchester, became the bride of David Michael Pape in a 7 p.m. Mass on Friday, May 26, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Louisville. The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Madget McCormick Cleveland of Frankfort and the late Roger Cleveland and the late Milton and Sarah Kathryn Catlett. Pape is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Charles Pape Jr. of Louisville. He is the grandson of the late Marion and Mary Abell and the late Richard and Mary Pape.
