There is no winner on the issue of gays joining the Boy Scouts. Concerned parents don't want gays associated with their kids and gays have not won anything in this battle except to say they forced themselves into groups of people who do not want to be around them. If the Boy Scouts were going to make this move, it would have been better for them to have a “don't ask, don't tell” policy similar to the one the Armed Forces had. Their decision has tarnished their name and heritage.

Looking into your family's history can be a large task to tackle. But digging into African-American ancestry can be an even more difficult task because of inadequate record-keeping, genealogists said. Questions about your great-grandparents, slavery, segregated schools and restaurants can pose challenges. The African-American Genealogy Group of Kentucky (AAGGKY) will be meeting this weekend at Clark County Public Library in an attempt to help some of the residents of Clark County answer some of those very questions.

Those with an interest in keeping history alive can breath easier after a team of historic preservationists came through with a winning bid of $87,200 to buy the Willis Green home at auction Saturday morning. “There are no specific plans right now. We just wanted to make sure whoever got it wanted to preserve it,” said Jess Correll of Stanford, president of First Southern National Bank. “That was our main objective.” Correll pitched in with the James Harrod Trust in Harrodsburg and Bluegrass Trust for Historic Preservation and the Crutcher Family Foundation, both of Lexington, to purchase the historic home - built in 1800 by Green, one of Kentucky's founding fathers - and 2.3 acres at the end of West Erskine Drive.
