BOYLE COUNTY Coach: David Camic 2008 record: 29-7 Top returnees: Blake Bottoms, Jr. CF-P; Ben Carter, Sr. C-P; Cody Morris, Sr. 2B; Logan Tritapoe, Jr. 2B-SS; Garrick Whittle, Sr. P-1B. Key statistics: Boyle had the area's longest winning streak for the second straight season, winning 13 consecutive games in April and May. The Rebels also averaged more runs per game (7.7) than any other 12th Region team. Outlook: Boyle's best asset is its infield.

LANCASTER - Four years ago Ed Rall insisted he eventually wanted to coach again when he was forced to give up his baseball coaching position at Centre College. Now he's found the right opportunity to return to coaching - something he's always loved. Rall is the new baseball coach at Garrard County. Rall has been teaching at Garrard for the last four years and finally decided it was the right time to coach again to fill the vacancy created by Brad Woods' resignation. "I have had a bunch of opportunities to get back into coaching, but things just didn't feel right," said Rall.

High school baseball. A conversation with Boyle County baseball coach David Camic about the number of players he's had play college baseball led us into wondering how many area players had pitched at Division I schools since Danville's Rich Witten (Coastal Carolina) and Boyle's Patrick Cooper (Eastern Kentucky) both had signed as pitchers this year. Surprisingly, we didn't need long to compile a more extensive list than I anticipated. We quickly remembered Danville teammates Paul Morse and Troy Trumbo, who both pitched at Kentucky.
